Some real music and dancing

The song goes twice. No voice enhancement, no synthesizers or fixing of much of anything... Just real music, and LOTS of instruments playing together. Always thought Tex Beneke had a pretty good voice.

Makes what comes out today seem awfully like junk to me...

And then watch the tap routine in the second half... And we say that the modern pop musicians can dance with their act? LOL!

We've got a young 22 year old design engineer at work. All he listens to is "Big Band" era music! He even wears the old hats like then too, plus, he wears them to work!

Big band music is always upbeat and cheery in direct opposition to what was going on when it flourished.

Great clip and wonderful music. Those were the days! Tough times with first the depression and then the war....but instead of dwelling on the negative, big bands and films of the time cheered people up and in a small degree made them almost forget the challenges before them. Today, for some odd reason, our culture seems to dwell on the negative in films and music. Too bad.....life has more to offer than that.

How long have you two been dancing? That is something that has interested both me and the better half. Unfortunately, both of us are not nearly coordinated enough to attempt it, but we still enjoy watching it.

Someone sent me this clip from a Japanese movie called "Swing Girls"; I'm sure the soundtrack was "movied up" but I thought it was interesting the juxtaposition of a very expressive artistic form, that seems to have a "look @ my stuff" aspect against a society which has a uniformed "don't rock the boat" undercurrent.

I'd rather be exporting this to the Far East rather than some raging, pants around the ankles stuff.
