Couldn’t leave Mt Airy “Mayberry” NC without some souvenirs. Such a sweet little heart of a town. Our 2nd visit is 6 months

Very cool. Is there anyone other than Ron Howard still alive from that show? Maggie Peterson who played Charlene Darlin held on till last year. Kind of interesting as she was from Ft. Collins Colorado.

I believe Ronnie Howard is it. Thelma Lou played by Betty Lynn loved the show and the real Mt Airy "Mayberry" so much she lived there in her later years passed away there in October of 2021 at age 95.

Weird bit of trivia. Andy Griffith's First wife ( Apparently for a wholesome show he was quite the womanizer) wrote lyrics for the intro but it was decided to leave just the whistling in.

yes back in August we had the world famous pork chop sandwich. it was still a bit early when we walked around town yesterday but it appears they may have been closed maybe for the holiday week. if they open 6AM then they were closed
