Was driving my new to me diesel pickup home last night. Going 55 in a 55 zone. See a car(Prius)at an intersection, he has a stop sigh I do not.

He waited till I was about 200 ft from the intersection when he decided to pull right out in front of me. I had a feeling that he was stupid so I had anticipated him pulling a stunt like this. So I hit the brakes and followed him through the no passing zone @ 38mph.

I noticed several bumper stickers on his car and none were from any group that I agree with.

So we continue on now @ 38mph and he brake checked me although I had left plenty of space between us. Now we are going 32mph in a 55 zone.

Got to the passing zone so I dropped the 6.9L diesel into 3rd and passed this clown. Shifted to 4th and as I looked in my mirror I could see his headlights through my diesel smoke.

Now ain't that the truth.....

I have noticed some people wait till you are close then pull out in front of you taking their time to get up to speed. I swear sometimes it seems intentional.

Your point?
There seem to be two types of prius drivers. Those that want to drive fast for lower cost and others who want to make everyone else miserable.

In this case both the "Treehugger liberal" and the "Wannabee big rig cowboy" proved that the gene pool is still very shallow.

Sounds like the Prius driver with the bumperstickers (political, social causes?) had a chip on his shoulder from the get go because you weren't driving the "right" type of vehicle.

Nice story. Knowing that your truck put out a ton of smoke @ WOT, i would have sloooowly passed him and then nailed it when you're in front of him. That way, a nice juicy cloud of smoke would consume the poor treehugger.

Hey I was just minding my own business. I wouldn't consider me a wannabe big rig cownboy since I have a Peterbilt sitting in my yard.

Don't worry if he keeps pulling [censored] like that in front of say a cement mixer you will be reading about it in the paper.

LOL, I would have passed the yahoo too. 38 mph in a 55 is dangerously slow in most weather conditions. Sounds like a passive-aggressive road rager.

Around here, it's easy to tell the pickups that get used as intended from the commuter queens. Nothing wrong with a pickup, as long as it's used like a pickup should be.

I'm not sure why some are faulting you, Chris. Driving 32 mph in 55 mph zone is passive-aggressive behavior and just plain not safe and proper, let alone pulling out in front of someone to do just that. I can see someone going a couple mph under but upwards of 20 mph under on a two-lane highway? That's just being passive-aggressive.

I think I saw the same person

I wish I could blow something obnoxious from the back of one of my cars. I had a driver during an extremely heavy downpour yesterday tailgating me in very light traffic.

Some crazy drivers out there. I don't have a problem with either type of vehicle or the people that drive them. Unless they are jerks.

Problem is jerks drive anything from a Prius to a big rig. I'm doing a 80 mile commute and get to see my share of crazy drivers lately.

Sounds like a jerk, going that slow in a 55. Taking time getting up to speed, sometimes I can understand. I live right on a 55 mph road, next to a slight hill, and when I'm pulling out of my driveway in the mornings, occasionally a car will crest the hill just as I'm pulling out when it's too late for me to wait. I will never intentionally pull out in front of someone, but it's hard to avoid if the timing just works out wrong. The cars will be maybe 1000-1500 feet up the road when I pull out, and TBH I'm not going to redline my cold engine just so they don't have to slow down a little. Maybe that makes me a jerk, but I live here and have to pull onto that road every morning. I guess what I'm saying is it's not always intentional, even if it probably was in this case.

I probably would've thought this was funny too, but I gotta say I get annoyed when I see a truck floor it and a huge cloud of carcinogenic soot comes out the tailpipe.

Ive seen this too. I dont know WHY someone would do this as one day they are going to get creamed.
I try to be really cautious then stomp it when I have made my decision.
