Sold the 2007 Accord

I recently acquired my parents’ Altima so it was time to trim down the fleet.

I sold the Accord to a good friend of my next door neighbor. Although the car was in pretty good shape, I went ahead and invested $750 towards addressing some borderline wear and maintenance items before sale. While this probably wasn’t the smartest thing for my wallet, it felt like the right thing to do for an acquaintance.

Got $5k for the car - which seems in line for the market.

I hope the car continues to service its new owner well. I gave him a quart of oil and reminded him to check the oil level periodically, hopefully he listens!

I got more than KBB value for the vehicle. Based on the ones available for sale within a few hundred miles, there were no comparable examples to justify above KBB value.

It all seems in line with the 2010 Accord (similarly equipped) I "sold" for a neighbor.

For BITOGers with a memory, this is the car I had cared for for >7 years and was destroyed by the grandmother of the kid who got it by going to a low-level chain with a coupon for an oil change the car didn't need.
These same scummy people billed her $1,600 for a brake job...the car had new brakes.

No doubt. Dealers would give you $500 for it and sell it for $7k min. Around me they sling 20+ year old Toyotas and Hondas pushing 300,000 miles for $7k-$10k. It's unreal.

I just off'd my Nissan this afternoon.

You are a good friend. That $5k would have been a brake module repair cost for my Prius in the dealer or a replacement engine after the head gasket blown.

If I were to buy a replacement car it would be from you next time.

My father in law once tried to sell his sunroof leaking Camry to my coworker and when caught, blame my coworker for being a spoiled brat. Now he wanted me to help him sell his Buick and I told him to either sell it to a dealer or the junkyard for whatever they would pay for. I don't want to have anything to do with his pride, ego, or wallet.

When I got his sister's Corolla, he started to tell me a few things about it and I just ignored him. Dang thing is perfect!
