New Zealand got robbed with a bad officiating just like USA got robbed the last game vs. Slovenia.

Brazil vs. Ivory Coast at 2:30PM EDT will be a good game to watch, it will be a high scoring game.

The Italians look like a group of OLD actors. No actually, The Italians look like a group of OLD, BAD actors. Meanwhile the French packed it up in protest.

I'm starting to think FIFA ratings are out the window.

Germany lost, Spain lost, Italy choked, England gagging, France sucking gas....

Netherlands will run into Brasil. Wow what a WC!!

Watching it at the moment, looks like it will be a low scoring game. Not many goals scored in this WC so far and it only gets harder as you move into the knock out rounds.

FWIW, I don't get what the great hype is in the USA goalie. ESPN makes him out to be one of the best, yet he gave up a very weak goal against Slovenia by misjudging the angle of the shot.(I think it was the second goal)

Edit: Just as I submitted this, Brazil scores! Great goal too. What a finish by #9 Game is over, lol

Too many simulations/bad actors and too many incompetent referees in this World Cup. An Ivory Coast player ran into Kaka and fall down holding his face late in the game, the result was Kaka got a red-card. Second goal by Fabiano was hand ball, twice, and it was not called. I blame all this weird stubs on Vuvuzela and winter in S. Africa.

I agree. Kaka suffered a real injury, not an Italian Job. Keita should have been red carded, right then and there.

5 days ago, refs were doing fine, then they seem to have gone right into the pooper.

Why are the vuvuzelas suddenly a big problem? The Latin American fans have been using them for some time AFAIK. There were some creative vuvuzela noise makers out there during today's (Brazil v Ivory Coast).

Hmmm.. I can tell you the obvious:

1. They're annoying
2. They're deafening (over 135 dBA)
3. The soccer players have trouble communicating
4. The TV announcers have trouble communicating
5. It's rude when people play them during the national anthems
6. 99% futbol fans rather hear motivating human cheering than some that sounds like a constant hmm for 90 minutes.
7. Did I say it was annoying

The Italian Job is done,on to the next one.The Italians seem to be very fragile, they fell over in pain whenever they got near a big Kiwi boy....lucky it wasn't a rugby game. For a team of ''Part timers and no hopers'',the All whites aren't doing too bad.

At the rugby - the All Blacks defeated Wales, and the NZ Maori team beat Ireland.Scores double digits against single.

I agree. The sound of motivating human cheering is much better, it makes you feel like being there.

I think New Zealand got robed by the Italian Job, the Italian player who flopped in the penalty area should get the Yellow or even Red card. If you try to get a cheap penalty kick by flopping then you should be penalized if get caught.

Soccer needs another ref on the field and a different penalty system for all the diving/fake injury krhap... There are too many bad and missed calls and the 2 yellow card rule seem silly especially with the large chance of an opposing playing drawing a bad call.
I AM biased but something like the NHL ref system which spots more actual penalties and dives. And then have the guy sit out for 10 minutes for a yellow card, and maybe add 10 more minutes for each additional yellow card. A red card infraction could be treated the same as it is now.
I try to watch the games but the useless droning and diving and acting gets old really quick. If the game is flowing well and end to end, it is interesting. But many of the games I only tune in for a couple minutes then find something else to do...

Bye bye France, just like 2002 they did not win a single game in the first round, but this time they scored a goal while no goal was scored 8 years ago.

Look like Uruguay will meet Korea and Argentina will see Mexico in the next round.

Watching soccer is about as exciting as watching grass grow to me but I was PO'd when the ref. screwed us on a bad call. Was there ever any reason given and is the ref. going to be reprimanded?

No reason is needed to explain why a goal is not allowed by the referee and by FIFA. Also, FIFA will not publicity announce disciplines a referee for a mistake in any game.

Most Americans think that soccer is boring but Billions people in the World gone crazy about World Cup and it is the most watched sport event every 4 years.

It upsets me that the USA is probably the only country in the world where soccer is not popular and/or abhorred.

Soccer is the only sporting event that I will request a day off from work.

Baseball can be boring. Football (US) can be VERY boring. Stop and start. Stop and start. Time outs. Basketball with 2 minutes on the clock, well 30 minutes later the game is over. I can enjoy baseball, and some football. I really don't like basketball.

I like Soccer because, well because it's the fast food of sports. 2 45 minute halves and it's over. You would think that very American. I would not say soccer is abhorred here. Look at Seattle and the Sounders. Every game sold out. MLS is growing. As I said 20+ years ago, just a generation thing. Almost there. Besides a certain religion hates futbol.

Anyways, excited and nervous. GO USA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

After many a year of trying and a few recent trips with my German friends, I think I finally understand the passion behind this game of fussball.
