They just qualified for the 2006 World Cup soccer Germany. They have been having bad luck since 1974. Now the Aussies are going to Germany. The Coach? Dutchmen Guus Hiddink, the same man who made Team South Korea the Soccer superstars of Asia.

I don't know who all the qualified countries are.. but the teams im rooting for are: Australia, Netherlands, Korea and USA. Korea and Australia are the Underdogs of Soccer, so Im going to cheer harder for them!!

Very cool. I'd love for USA to hook up with the Aussies. USA had their best year ever in 2005. I don't have hope of a real high finish, but still I love the World Cup and plan on watching as much as possible in 2006.

I hear the Germans like to be spanked.

All sports that involve spherical or ovoid objects being kicked, caught, hit, shot, delivered, flung or carried, should be outlawed. BORING!

When I went to Lake Tahoe this past summer I sat next to a nice German girl (from Bavaria). When I think of German women, I think of that movie Eurotrip.

^^ So you like NASCAR? NASCAR fans love Circles------->

Huh? What kind of logic dictates that because I don't like any ball games I must love NASCAR?

I was just stating my appreciation of German women. LOL. She was very nice. Not blond though.

Who knows what else she was not.

Many Bavarians are short and have dark skin and hair because of Roman occupation. Germans get blonder and taller if you head North. That's a generalization, but true.

Very minor game here for adults although many kids play 'wogball'. Australian Rules Football is no #1 by far with Rugby League a distant second. Rugby Union is the 8th participation/spectator sport acording to the Bureau of Statistics.

I have always supported Germany but their current team except for Ballack look weak, either Brazil or Argentina will take the cup this time.

Shen... (just kidding, for the ones who don't know, it means "you lied")

That was nice, I worked with one in one of my last job and they are totally PG sexy (as Pixar put it, they are mentally and vocally sexy).

except that Rugby League is the dominant winter football code in New South Wales and Queensland, with Australian Rules probably falling behind Rugby Union in popularity in those two states.

The round ball code has moved to a summer competition as it cannot compete against the two more popular codes.

BTW, the game on Wednesday night against Uruguay was a tension filled encounter and was decided in a penalty shootout where the goalie, Mark Schwartzer, stopped two attempts.

The system that has been imposed by FIFA that the winner of Oceania does not qualify directly as any other federation does, but they have to play the loser of South America (previously Asia) is iniquitous. The powerful South American Federation refused to give up a spot (along with a wink and a nod from FIFA) to make it a true World Cup. Ahhh politics.
Luckily, Australia has been pushing for, and been accepted into the Asian Football Federation after this attempt.
