France is about going out in the first round, a repeat of WC 2002 in Japan-South Korea with 1 draw and 2 lost without scoring a single goal. France was 1998 champion at home and finalist in Germany 2006, but they were/are plainly lousy outside Europe.
 
Ouch. It was kind of a good game in an odd way. So. Korea had their pesky RE's handed to them. And Greece won.

I'm so freaking nervous for the USA tomorrow. Relax and play smart you weasels.
 
Serbia stuns Germany, 1-0. It's been awhile since Germany lost in group play.

As for France, their upcoming early exit is poetic justice for considering the underhanded manner in which they qualified for the tournament, no pun intended.
 
Wow. My heart just is not designed for this abuse. The last call was atrocious. But, no worse than our defensive play at first.

Why does the coach insist on starting Findley? That guy is doing nothing!!!!! Altidore is OK but nothing special. And Buddle sits on the Bench.

Tip my hat to Bradley and of course Donovan.
 
Yeah, if we and Brit are both tie the next games then we will be in the next round, or if we both win the next game with the same score then we will be too. That why the third(or last) games of each group will be played at the same time.
 
Yeah I heard that a couple games ago, I guess there was some collusion (not THAT long ago) when the games were staggered. Didn't hear which teams were playing shenanigans.

Man - the USA sure have a wide dynamic spectrum. I watch the players off the ball on the new 42" high def TV, I think I can see the patterns that contribute to these lapses. But good gawd when we are balls on offense, watch out.

The first team eliminated from the first round is Cameroon of group E, Netherlands is the first team qualified for second round. The other two teams of the same group will fight for survival on Thursday June 24, Japan needs a tie to advance to second round while Denmark needs a win to advance.

Group F is wide open, everyone got 1 point after first match.

Group G is fairly easy to predict who will advance, if Brazil wins they will go to next round but the other teams may need the third game to see if they will qualified.

So far Ghana is the only African nation can advance to second round but not so sure, all other African nations are in trouble.

This World Cup is not usual, because it is winter in South Africa and the noise from Vuvuzela is very disturbing.

I've grown used to the swarm of angry hornets in my living room.

I for one am enjoying all the games immensely. Up until the last few days, the games have not been centered on the referee. Honestly, the only drawback of soccer itself. Just as with most end to end games the ref. can have a dramatic impact on the flow of the game, and worse the outcome. US got a stinker, and another game- I can't remember the teams - oh the Germany game, wow that ref was card happy. I'm certainly glad the flopping has been minimized - that's not a weakness of the game, that's the fault of some children partaking in such silly acting.

I think I will take Wed. off work.
