Small cracks Nexen N'Priz AH8 Shoulder?

That would be nice. No response yet. I did stop at Combs that sells these tires. The owner Scott was surprised. In 25 years he never saw anything like this. He said contacting Nexen was the way to go.

The thing is I really like these tires. They are quiet. Give a smooth ride. Great gas mileage. I priced tires at Sam's and Combs just to see what they had to offer. Good mileage is important to me. Wet and snow traction also. Seems like the Nexen's already have what I need. Until this happened I was thinking of getting Nexen's again.

It would be interesting to see differences between the OEM product and the aftermarket version. I have the aftermarket V-rated version of the AH8 and I've been pretty happy with them. The aftermarkets seem to have logo/lettering and tread differences versus the OEMs that I see on a newer Elantra that's parked across the street. Nice riding/handling and good wet traction in my experience. I took a 1000 mile trip to Oregon a few months ago and these tires did everything I asked of them...so as a "value" tire they seem pretty good in my estimation.

First, thanks for all the ideas and suggestions. The email I sent to Nexen did not go through. Today I replaced the Nexens with Continental True Contact Tour 91H. The shop close to my house had an instant $70 off that ended after today.

First impressions. They look much more substantial than the Nexen's. Look like they will do well in snow. Ride is smooth, but I do feel rode variations or bumps more. That is at the recommended 36 psi compared to the 38 to 40 I used in the Nexen's. Looks like 36 is about right for these tires.

The Continentals seems to be more planted. The Nexens would spin with anything except light throttle. I expect fuel economy will be a little less but traction is most important.

I saved the one Nexen with 10K miles I purchased to replace a damaged tire. I will make a full size spare out of that one.

My stepfather is 70 miles away and he is my responsibility till the end. My work requires I transport people. I just feel good about the new tires. I have a lot on my plate and it is one less thing to be concerned about.

I have about 45k on a set of Toyo's on my Sonata, and was taking a look at the Nexen offerings at Discount Tire.

I'll pass after seeing this nonsense..

We had similar issues on our Scion, we purchased the car used it had recalled Primewell tires on it. Firestone replaced them with more primewells.

18 months later, maybe 15k miles we had 2 tires with tread separation, and two totally bald tires. Rotation and air pressure was kept up.

Would not recommend Primewell either.

However, Toyo makes a great tire, mine are wearing very well, nothing weird, rolling over 45k miles on the set. I probably rotate the tires 1x per year if that.

Walmart has "2 packs" on sale of cooper tires, I may have discount match them next week if the deal is still active.

Had a wet weather scare with the Toyo's the other day, coming off an exit ramp. ABS engaged, and car slid quite a distance, lucky not to hit anyone.

Tread is about 4-5 32nd's as I measured a few weeks ago.

Hate to bump an old thread, but for anyone looking the Nexen NPriz AH8 tires on our Veloster are starting to crack ON the tread blocks in the front at only 8000 miles. It looks like someone spun on the tires on gravel almost. It's only on the fronts and only on the outer edges of each so I assume these are dry rotting from sun exposure, and turning stress. We bought the car with 3000 miles on it and the cracks weren't present.

Will be looking to get these off the car soon.

i just recently shopped for replacement tires for my 2014 toyota yaris due to dry rot, not treadwear. discount tire (superb place btw!) advised against both ohtsu and nexen, gt were unavailable. dt recommended cooper evolution and yokohama yk740. i got the the more expensive 60k mile yokohama because of immediate availability and attractive price with veteran’s discount & rebate promos.

last year i replaced kelly edge with much better conti true contacts on my 2013 vw passat also at dt.

frankly, with supply chain and inflation worries, i would get longer lasting, better quality tires now, even if my budget stretched a bit. good luck!

Like everything else I end up owning it's going to get Continental DWS06s.
