Share Your Oil Consumption if Any

09 Tacoma 320,000 miles. Use 2 qts over a 5000 mile oil change interval. Just keep adding to it every other week.

None!
1983 Silverado, just normal oil leaks.
2008 Chevy Malibu LTZ
2017 Buick Regal GS
2020 KIA Soul Turbo
2022 Jeep Wrangler

2016 Subaru Forester with the 2.5. Over a 4,000 mi. change interval it seems to use a small amount. A 5 qt jug leaves the oil level on the stick at just over the full line. By the time it's changed the level is just under the full line. A few table spoons? The car has about 77.000 miles and is mostly short tripped.

2023 Cadillac XT4. About 1/2 quart in 3,000 miles but it may still be breaking in. My 2018 Mustang GT used about 1 quart in 5,000 miles until it got to 8,000 or so miles, then it quit using oil.

First vehicle I've owned which burned oil was a 2010 CR-V K24.

Bought it with 60k on it and have been sticking to 5k OCI with 5w30 syn (whatever is cheapest).

Burned 1 qt in 800 miles at the worst with 120K on it. Burned an exhaust valve at 135k.

I pulled the head and replaced the valve (adjusted valves at 90k). Did valve guide seals, and used Sea Foam in all 4 cyl while head was off for about a week.

After reassembly and dumping oil when warm, changed oil with usual 5w30.

Haven't needed to add oil since. Uses about 1/2qt in 5k OCI.

Was it valve guide seals? Was it rings that Sea Foam fixed? Don't know.

over the years, my 93 GMC w/4.3V6, 99 Cavalier w/2.2,the 12 Camaro w/3.6,the 17 Versa w/1.4 basically used none. all were on a 10k OCI.
99 Camry, 99 Hyundai and 98 Expedition all used some... the Expedition used a Qt every 1500 miles from the day I bought it with 70k miles, and it was the same when I sold it with 225k miles. my Cummins powered truck seems like 4000 miles or so I throw some oil in it.. but my favorite thing is this chart from Cummins on what constitutes "excessive oil consumption". basically until you get below 400 miles per quart, no worries. :)

The Lincoln: I haven't noticed any even during 900-mile trips. I haven't seen the dipstick read less than 4/5 full. Car gets looked over by a company mechanic once a week. I suppose they keep topping it off as necessary. The Mini consumes about 1/4 quart over the 9,000-mile OCI. I can't remember how much the Rabbit consumes. Maybe a 1/3 quart every 1,000 miles or so.

2015 Ford Escape with 1.6 liter uses no oil between changes. 2017 Subaru Outback used no oil from the time it was new to me until my first oil change; used a quart over the following 3000 miles, no consumption over the last 2000 miles, I plan on 6k miles oil changes.

I'll start out by saying that since my 1977 VW Rabbit, which was recalled for leaky valve stem seals, I've had no measurable oil consumption with any of my cars until my two current rides. My wife's 2011 Acura TSX wagon has consumed about 1 quart of oil per 3,000 miles for the the past 6 years or so. I received a notice from Acura about 7 years ago extending my powertrain warranty and warning of increased oil consumption. The notice recommended using to Top Tier gas to combat the problem and I also put Techron in the tank couple of times a year for several of years. Additionally, I stopped using the "maintenance minder" and switched to an OCI of 6k miles, alway 0w-20 full synthetic. This reduced consumption from 1 qt. per 1,500 miles to my current 1qt. per 3,000 miles with 114,000 miles on the odometer. I was inspired me to check my 2007 V6 manual transmission Honda Accord and it's using about a quart every 6k miles. I typically add a half quart midway between oil changes. I'm just curious about other's experience with newer cars and oil consumption. I'm chalking it up to the use of low tension piston rings in the Acura along with its high compression (11:1) engine.
I have 4 Honda Odysseys (see details in my signature below). No oil consumption at all during the OCI in any of them.
I always use 5W-30 High Mileage Full Synthetic Oil. The high mileage oil treats the interior engine seals so it seems to help prevent oil consumption and oil leaks.

I really like using High Mileage oil because it helps to prevent the frustration of having cars that leak oil on your driveway/garage.
Also, I never have to add any oil in between OCI. I check the oil levels once a month on all 4 Odysseys, but every single time oil is at the full mark.

I drive a 2016 F150 with the 2.7 Ecoboost and the odometer currently is just shy of 103,000 miles. My oil change interval is around 7000/7500 miles. I ran 5w-30 Motorcraft semi-syn in it for 50 or 60,000 miles and since then I've had Super Tech, Pennzoil or Castrol full synthetic in it. Early on it took a small top up (I like to keep the oil level at or right at the full mark) but I don't recall adding any oil in the last few years.

My wife drives a 2012 Highlander with the 3.5 V6. It currently shows just over 135,000 miles. Up to 100,000 thousand miles it got Mobil1 0w-20 extended performance (or whatever they called it that year) and after 100K I changed the weight to 5w-20. Before Covid, when she drove to an office 25 miles away, I changed the oil every 10,000 miles. After Covid I think I've changed it once and it had just a few thousand miles on it when I changed it, but a couple of years. I'll do the same the next time. A couple of years and somewhere around 2000 miles. During the 10K change years it would take a few ounces once between changes but never dropped very far from the full mark on the stick.

My play toy is a 1969 GTO with a 455 I built under the hood. I change it's 10w-40 oil about every 2000 miles which is about once a year or so. I keep the oil at the top marker on the stick and it uses some. Half a quart +- between changes? With the GTO I'm either just cruising around at low RPM's or running the living crap out of it.

2021 Accord 2.0, purchased vehicle October 2022, changed oil December 2022. Used Amsoil SS 0w20 and added 2 quarts over 3000 miles. Stage 2 tune, runs strong with no noticeable fuel smell in the oil. Drained oil, replaced filter, no fuel smell, oil looked decent. I’m thinking the consumption is a result of higher boost, not sure.
Filled with Amsoil SS 5W30 and filter this week. I’m going to run this and see if the consumption decreases, although the warmer weather may have an effect.
Going to send an oil sample sometime between 3k-5k just to get a baseline.
Probably switch to Mobile 1 or another high quality readily available oil in the fall.
Anyone have similar issues with this engine besides oil dilution? One quart per 1500 miles isn’t extreme, but not ideal. I own 2 Toyota NA dual infection car/van that consume nearly zero oil.
Engine had 20,000 miles, purchased the car at 14,000.

Interesting. The current Honda 2.0/1.5T are not known to consume oil like the older K24 2.4L engine. Did you buy it new? How was it broken-in?
