Septum rings are ugly

Oh, sorry -- not a fan.

That is exactly the first thought that crosses my mind, whenever I see a woman with a nose ring. I wonder, why they want to have the same hardware as a farm animal.

The young lady at the front desk of a hotel I was checking out of last week, had a nose ring. I have to focus real hard on maintaining direct eye contact. Even then, I can't help but think about the sanitation issue of nose and lip jewelry. It grosses me out when I think about it.

Oh, absolutely. My wife is as repulsed by face/lip/nose piercings as I am. Perhaps more so. She will say what she thinks of a woman with a nose ring or a tongue piercing much quicker than I do. I try to follow the "If you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all" maxim. As you can see, I'm not perfect at it.

And to be clear, we are not trash talking women. We are trash talking questionable life choices, in this case face piercings. I respect everyone, at least I try to. I don't respect bad decisions.

They will be, once they're in their 30s and want to settle down, only to find out no successful man wants a tattooed up and pierced woman as his wife and mother of his children. Just like no woman wants a guy with no job. Except a guy can always get a job, but tattoos and scars from weird piercings stay forever.

I dont know if you could paint this picture with a more broad stroke if you tried. Sure the taste isnt for everyone, but plenty of people have absolutely zero issues with tattoos or piercings in a partner, and also amazingly, have figured out how to make money along the way.

The wife and I both grew up near farms, and both of us see them the same way. So we don't find them at all attractive. Our daughter in her 20's, has said the same.

But we feel that people are certainly free to do with their own bodies as they wish.

I have a female co-worker, probably close to 40 years old, that has a septum ring. It’s one of those bedazzled ones. I honestly have a hard time looking at her in the face when talking to her. I have seen plenty of women with nose rings throughout my life. I think the first time when I was a child at the doctor's office, the Asian Indian woman doctor had a stud in her nose. A small loop or stud on one of the nostrils, wouldn’t even get a second glance from me in today’s world, but the hog rings is just too much. What’s your take on septum rings?

Not particularly something I find attractive, but it's not about me.

In another life, I learned very early on not to judge someone by how they look. Probably saved me lots of trouble and kept me alive too. It was beaten into my puny cop brain when I still had pricetags on my uniform to never underestimate my adversary. Valuble lesson applicable in so many areas of life it seems.

Only tongue and genital have the possibility of sexual meanings.

Many cultures have piercings that have cultural or religious meanings.

I see excesses often. Some are small like plastic ducks on a Jeep's dasnboard.
I feel people should have an appreciation for the polution plastics create during manufacture and after use as they break down.
We shouldn't be making more bad garbage than we need to.

Call it social badging or anything else. To me it's thoughtless consumerism at the very least.

That tatts and piercings and even Jeep ducks appear as fads should diminish their appeal by definition.
Fads -think them marketing (lying) and you being stupid and childish- are mostly bad and seldom stick around with meaningful positive effect.

People don't "wake up one morning" wanting piercings, tattoos or ducks. They're coveting, imagining a result and being followers.
You could call it scary.

Yesterday, I happily bounced about offices of my doctor (annual), a podiatrist, an x-ray room and a lab (bloodwork).
The number of large handeled paper shopping bags full of plastic trays I saw made me cry.
I wanted to say, "Doesn't anyone here carry their lunch?"

None of them are on a budget tight enough to prompt thrift? I guess that's progress. [shrug emoji]

I never said there are not any good women or men out there. Are they easy to find? No. Are they there? Yes.

The bar has equalized and too many men don't realize it.

Big time. However, I don't support the whole women/men can do whatever the opposite gender can do. I can't give birth. . . So there's that. I respect equality across sexes, ethnicity etc, but I don't respect when people throw out basic objectivity and logic because of their feelings.

The only ones who complain about women and dating nowadays are the ones who think women should be their household slave and only clean, cook, and bend over whenever the husband wants; or the guy thinks all they need to be is nice and have a job regardless of their crappy attitude and shallow personality.

This goes for women too. There are women who don't want to adhere to traditional roles, but yet expect men to foot the bill for everything. Men, and women, are both guilty of this. But I know plenty of women happy to be a household wife while the man is happy to be the bread winner. Different strokes for different folks. Depends on cultures as well.

Yes, very well aware of this, With the mature crowd here, I would assume that many could draw that conclusion on their own. I'm giving my opinion as a man, who is a heterosexual. Both men and women, not all, sleep around. I prefer the sleep around crowd sticks to one another and rotate accordingly.

It's not that, it's many failing to see the wastefulness of many choises.

That the cost of post-user garbage etc. isn't addressed is bad. The economy of disposable plastic drink bottles is false.
People should resist waste and be aware that their tastes might be transatory and that promoted unoriginality taps your resources before you can spend them better.

You and I do not get to interpret what is valuable and meaningful and what is not to someone else.

Cars are wasteful. Takes a lot of piercings to make up for the waste of a car.
