Septum rings are ugly

Not sure why some find stuff like this funny. The statistics are clear, 45% of prime working-age women (ages 25 to 44) in the United States may be single and childless by 2030. These are staggering stats and the outlook does not look good for women especially, since most do have a strong desire to have a family and raise kids. Their "sunset" years will be nothing but loneliness and misery that a house full of cats cannot fulfill.

Turns out the crazy cat lady from The Simpsons was not just a character, it was a glimpse of the future.

I do not find the septum rings attractive. Depending upon size and design, they can be a bit distracting if you have to engage with the person one-on-one.

However, I don't let it bother me, either. I don't look down on people who pierce or get tattoos; I don't much care much what others do to their own bodies.

Whether or not the septum ring would cause an issue at a workplace would certainly depend on the workplace situational environment. If I saw this person working behind the counter at a StarBucks, it wouldn't phase me whatsoever; hipsters gotta be hip! But, if I saw them in a professional situation requiring formal business attire, it would give me pause ...

But life is about choices, and I support their right to look as stupid as they choose!

That is exactly the first thought that crosses my mind, whenever I see a woman with a nose ring. I wonder, why they want to have the same hardware as a farm animal.

The young lady at the front desk of a hotel I was checking out of last week, had a nose ring. I have to focus real hard on maintaining direct eye contact. Even then, I can't help but think about the sanitation issue of nose and lip jewelry. It grosses me out when I think about it.

Do y'all's wives / girlfriends know how you think and talk about women?

Oh, absolutely. My wife is as repulsed by face/lip/nose piercings as I am. Perhaps more so. She will say what she thinks of a woman with a nose ring or a tongue piercing much quicker than I do. I try to follow the "If you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all" maxim. As you can see, I'm not perfect at it.

And to be clear, we are not trash talking women. We are trash talking questionable life choices, in this case face piercings. I respect everyone, at least I try to. I don't respect bad decisions.

They will be, once they're in their 30s and want to settle down, only to find out no successful man wants a tattooed up and pierced woman as his wife and mother of his children. Just like no woman wants a guy with no job. Except a guy can always get a job, but tattoos and scars from weird piercings stay forever.

I dont know if you could paint this picture with a more broad stroke if you tried. Sure the taste isnt for everyone, but plenty of people have absolutely zero issues with tattoos or piercings in a partner, and also amazingly, have figured out how to make money along the way.

Nose rings look terrible, trashy and very silly.

I would NOT hire any person with nose ring(s).

The wife and I both grew up near farms, and both of us see them the same way. So we don't find them at all attractive. Our daughter in her 20's, has said the same.

But we feel that people are certainly free to do with their own bodies as they wish.

I have a female co-worker, probably close to 40 years old, that has a septum ring. It’s one of those bedazzled ones. I honestly have a hard time looking at her in the face when talking to her. I have seen plenty of women with nose rings throughout my life. I think the first time when I was a child at the doctor's office, the Asian Indian woman doctor had a stud in her nose. A small loop or stud on one of the nostrils, wouldn’t even get a second glance from me in today’s world, but the hog rings is just too much. What’s your take on septum rings?
