When I was in highschool one of the kids in my class got his tongue pierced. They hit a nerve and he had a permanent speech impediment after that. Apparently he or his parents signed something stating that they were aware of that as a potential side affect and couldn't sue.

Females seem to love them. It's interesting. If their chest is to small they make them bigger, to big they get a reduction. If they have blonde their hair they dye it dark. If they are a brunette they bleach their hair. They add piercing all over the place, inflate their lips. Glue on huge eye lashes. Implant silicon in their rear end. Cover their face with so much makeup you can't tell who is underneath. Spray tan to look darker. The list goes on forever....

And women a great at gassing each other up. They will compliment these abominations to the point they actually believe these modifications look good.
The pierced lower lip with the ring thing is another bad decision too. Conjures up thoughts of Striped Bass fishing.
I'm with the prior post. Most individuals who have these have some degree of mental or personality issues.

It's a cultural thing. Different strokes for different folks. I would advise that anyone considering body modification keep in mind the impact this might have on future employment opportunities. Make it something you can remove during the work week or cover up with clothes. Individuality has it's limits in the workplace.
I don't think I'd go so far as to postulate that those with these piercings are afflicted with mental or personality disorders.
I just think that they aren't very attractive and really should have been avoided.
OTOH, the wearer can at least remove the nose ring, while facial and neck tattoos are not so easily eliminated.

From a future partner perspective, it giveS me fair warning they are probably not someone I want to spend time with and I have yet to be proven wrong. From an employer perspective, it usually screams future HR frequent flyer so again dodge that bullet. FWIW in the auto repair industry, visible tattoos seem to be accepted which although I don't like, I roll with it. People just need to be aware that choices have consequences.

Men do this stuff too and there are plenty of men with symptoms of insecurities - bro trucks, big guns, obsessive muscle building, shaved chests, and desire to blow things up, etc..

I wonder if these females that have so many piercings that if you roll down your windows above 30 MPH the wind blowing past her makes her face sound like a wiffle ball?
imagine raging over a piercing LOL, I guess the silver lining is that someone in their 20s probably couldnt give less of a **** about what someone 2-3x their age thinks about their aesthetic choice
There was a Substack post with photos of two young women. One was very wholesome looking, in a nice farm-girl sort of way. The other one had what I think of as the "angry painted cat" look (lots of warpaint, hair pulled back really tightly, haughty expression).
The poster said that men overwhelmingly preferred the simple wholesome look, whereas young women thought the painted look was more attractive.

I think it depends on the age and style of ring. a younger person can get away with it as long as it is a simple ring...I am 67 yoa and the thing I think looks stupid is when old guys have pony tails and wear dangly earrings. buddy and I were drunk in sturgis several years ago and he decided he wanted to get a spider tattooed to his neck.I was like dude you better call home and ask your wife and he was "nope" going to get one..we went into one of the many tattoo shops set up during the Sturgis rally and the tattoo artist asked what he wanted and he said a spider so the artist pulls out all kinds of spider designs and my buddy picked one and the artist asked where he wanted it and he said his neck and the artist said "nope come back tomorrow when your sober and I will do it but not tonight" he said he would not do neck, face or hand tattoos on people who he felt were drunk. he said arms, legs, backs he would but not something that could not be easily covered
I hate all nose rings. It grosses me out. 
Tattoos, I see as expressive body painting, doesn’t bother me at all.
Having metal objects hanging from your nose or tongue (and certain other body parts) just grosses me out.
