Of all the questions I've seen, the one concerning firearms [censored] me off the most.

I don't see how stopping them from asking the question violated the 1st ammendment...I bet they'd be shut down really quickly is they asked a couple of other oriented questions.

That question does seem a bit odd...Must have something to do with kids getting into the guns and someone gets shot. I hear that in the news a lot, but how that info is used by a doctors is beyond me..

If they mix up forms as simple as that, then I'd be very sure to closely watch the care your son receives at a facility such as that one. Who know what else they will "mix up". Be your own advocate.

On a recent visit, our optometrist had a new, more detailed questionaire. Most of the questions did not strike me as terribly odd, but it did ask about hobbies. What the heck? The clerk seemed a little embarrassed about it and said we didn't have to fill out the parts we were uncomfortable with.

When I got in to see the Doctor, he, without my even mentioning it, apologized for the form. He said it was government required in order to "get paid", although he didn't say which department or in which circumstance, so I don't know if it is insurance-related, Medicare, or what.

He was pretty incensed about the intrusiveness. He is one of founders of this very long time practice so he should be well aware of where this comes from, where ever that is. My wife and I have been seeing him for twenty-five years and have as good a client relationship as it is possible to have, so there was no reason for him to blow smoke at us.

Frankly i didnt care much for this doctors office (although the doctor himself was fine) our old doctors office seemed much more upscale. Maybee im beeing a little thin skinned on some of the questions, but others simply are not the buisness of anyone outside our home.

You guys missed the obvious. They ask for your EMPLOYERS ph# and address so they can harass you at work if you don't pay the bills.

Unfortunately there exist plenty of human garbage who reproduce and live of us taxpayers thus the need for the ridiculous questions for decent, moral Americans. EX Do you use drugs? HEat source, all those things are very valid when trying to diagnose a child whose parents havent taken care of basic safety precautions.

As far as your "right" not to answer? Yes you have the right, the same way the doctor has the right to refuse service if you refuse to answer. Unless your insurance carrier has the doctors sigh a document limiting what they can ask to participate in the plan you have NO RIGHT TO CARE.
