Royal Purple...how does it compare?

sulphated denotes sulfur?

isnt sulphur in gear oil to make it more betterer?

does that correlate to hps "high"hths for say 5w30

There's one example. There are so many different possible options, I can't really opine on this, but I do believe the idea was that it provided some EP or AW function, though EP really doesn't exist in most engines, that's a gear oil and transmission thing.

This would have no impact on their decision to blend it with a higher HTHS.

RP has a Dexos license I give them that much. I hear it’s good oil I been tempted to run it but can’t get myself to spend the money on it. I would probably try it before I would amsoil

Royal Purple seems like the boutique oil of Walmart. Ive always been a little suspicious of it and understand it uses a cheaper base stock than Amsoil. Amsoil is a very well made high quality oil which doesnt spare the expense. I would run it myself but I simply cannot justify the price. The Royal Purple isnt cheap but its a little better at nearly 10 per quart versus 15 per quart for Amsoil.

If you run Royal Purple can you post some UOAs? How does it compare to other oils? I enjoy watching Amsoil, HPL and RedLine go all out to make the best oils known to mankind. Hats off to them and maybe one day I might buy it. Im just wondering if Royal Purple is truly in the "boutique oil" club or is it simply another Walmart discounted rollback thing... Should I stick with the good ole silver Mobil 1 bottle or trade off to the purple bottle?
If I get my Mazda rx-7 race car going before winter I'll run a uoa. I ran 85w-90 with a little 85w-110 gear oil in the differential as it had lsd additive already in it. I think the Synerlec was peak RP but am not definitely sure. I always ran 10w-40 oil in it for a race season. With oils as good as they are I always thought it was wasteful to dump it after every race.

As people said…the buyout really changed the product.

That being said, I still use it in one vehicle. My daughter died and I still have her mustang. Her favorite color was purple. Her mustang is purple. She liked royal purple. So it gets royal purple as long as I live.
