With stock gearing, stock rev-limiter, and stock diameter rear tire, both first and second gen Hayabusa's will exceed 130 mph in 3rd gear. It would actually be 135-137 mph at the rev-limiter in 3rd gear, depending on which generation. The stock gearing is slightly taller on the first gen bike.

Why would grampi or any one else for that matter care what may or may not be wrong with a bike they will never own. It does not effect them. I do not set around and worry about what I may not like about a bike I will never own. I will never go on one of their forums to tell them I think their bikes suck. Wouldn't it be reasonable to accept that some people, for their own reasons, just don't like what you like? Are you so sensitive about whether people like everything else you own, or is it just your Harley? I mean, nobody said your wife was ugly or your child was stupid. Just let it go and enjoy your bike, unless the adulation of others is why you bought it.


It's a double standard...it's okay for the guys who like Harleys to say negative things about metric bikes, but if the guys who like metrics say anything negative about Harleys, then we're haters and bashers...

Yeah, he said the speedo is like almost 20 mph off. Also, first time riding something that fast.

Although I'm a Harley fan, the foreign competition is excellent. For my style of riding, Harley is the best. I can easily customize my bike to fit my ergos and tastes.

The new generation softail is that much better. You have to ride it to believe it.

Even though I haven't ridden one, I have no doubt it's much better than previous Harley models, however, considering the bikes I've owned and ridden, I doubt I would find it impressive...

Here is the calculated Speed vs Gear at redline for a 2000 Busa with stock gearing. Looks like 135 in 3rd is correct. 02SE had it right of course because he's a Busa guy.

Gear - MPH
1st - 78.7
2nd - 106.2
3rd - 134.8
4th - 160.1
5th - 181.1
6th - 197.2
 
Now for the important question: Do you have the new tires mounted on that legendary 2000?

I think there's some sort of law against letting such a machine sit for too long..

I only rode the Busa twice this summer. Too many other things going on, and the XSR900 has taken over because it's just a more fun bike to ride. I'll probably try to sell the Busa next spring. It just needs the tires and new brake pads installed, which I have sitting ready for installation at some point - did everything else last summer.

I do not care what you or anyone else thinks of my stuff at all. Though I see you’ve climbed aboard the ship for the trip.

I did forget to mention the great expanding Ducati fuel tank debacle, and the melting Honda dash, though Ducati fixed it without complaint and Honda fixed it with significant complaint.




You put in a lot of effort for someone who doesn't care. Most people who don't care just let things go.

The bike couldn't even handle the slight dips in the road, let alone take a sweeper. And speaking of sweepers, the V-Max flexed so bad even the most loyal riders admitted the bike handles like [censored]. The Suzuki had more clutch and trans problems than any bike I know of. Can't tell you how [censored] off my buddy was at his bike and the problems he had with it. The forums are filled with nightmares. And it's not even fast. For a guy prone to dissing Harleys, that choice of bike is really laughable. As for the Triumph, why would anybody buy that bike? It's obviously aimed at the "muscle bike quarter mile" crowd, and there are scores of faster bikes out there. In fact, even a Harley V-Rod is faster. 2001 VRSC ran 11.36@119 mph vs the 2010 R3 11.48@115 mph.

The most amazing part of your list is that you most likely don't even own any of those losers anymore, pretty much proving how worthless they became. LMAO

FWIW, am not a real fan of the Rocket 3, but spent a few days riding one and must admit it has it own charm....

How many Harleys that you rode wobbled. Hot shot. All motorcycle brands can be plagued with a wobble from time to time. Why do you always focus on just Harley. Oh we know why.

For me, none. Though the number of Harleys I've ridden is small.

Once over a 2 day period I saw 3 different Harleys do a weird wobble on the freeway.

I have zero doubt that some Harleys have wobble problems.
