RockAuto Motorcraft FL-500S 12 pack

I don't think I'd want to wait to conclude a filter is sketchy after it caused damage. That's like walking in a mine field to find mines, lol.

All filters are bad on this forum if you listen to enough post Run em and let us know if you blow a motor Then we’ll have something to talk about

Well, the data doesn’t lie. Why use a filter with poor capabilities? Just doesn’t make sense, IMO

Show us a motor that died because of a faulty oil filter 🤔 never heard of one myself
Might as well use a .99 rock auto special then with that line of thinking . Good chance it would be better than a Motorcraft anyway.

Based on some of the reports of the black glue coming off and going into the engine, I wouldn't be taking any chances. All engines with VVT have screens to filter such things like that, and something happening like the glue coming off can cause VVT issues. In fact, Motorcraft talks about it in this video. Video starts where talking about debris, which could be glue from the filter.

I just bought some of those as well. Only bought 7 though. Used one today, cut one open for the forum tonight.

Defective Fram Ultra destroyed this Mazda engine. A piece of the ADBV broke off and got sucked into the engine.
Think in that case it was the whole ADBV. In the big thread about that case, the theory was the filter was a "rattler", and most likely during a cold winter start-up the high dP pushed the ADBV out of the filter and into the engine. That's why it's a good idea to shake all filters that use a stamped leaf spring to ensure the guts aren't loose and rattling around. If it does, the ADBV is not pinched tight against the base plate.

I cut one of the 12 pack open. Nothing crazy. A little bit of extra glue but no mare than I’ve seen on other filters.
Will that sloppy black glue on the end caps come off with a fingernail? That's the black glue that's known to shed in use.
