Bought 7 of them. Used one today, cut one open tonight. Not the best filter I've ever seen, but I don't see it being a problem for 5k changes on the F150 Hybrid.

^^^ It's the left over black potting glue after the center tube was separated from the end cap. That black glue they use in the Motorcraft filters these days doesn't seem very robust, nor seems to adhere very well to the metal.

Updating this thread since the filter is from the same batch.

We managed about 4500 miles in 2 weeks, so the truck is sitting at about 5200 now. I want to get on a 5K schedule with it, so this is a bit short of that mark, but starts lining up better for oil changes every 5k. Of course, some of that is electric mileage, but I'm not going to take that into account when it comes to the OCI.

FWIW the MPG average of those 4500 miles was 9.81. We got absolutely hammered 2 days in a row with 20-30mph headwinds on our trip and there are 4 tanks of gas where the average was abysmal. You just can't fight physics.

From my gas log for the trip. These are hand calculated MPG figures.

Only took pics of the element since everything else looks the same as the new part.

I'll probably still change to a different filter when I run through 4 more of these, but for now at least they look fine.
