I am probably in the minority here, but I would pay a "membership fee" to get discounted/free shipping. I have enough cars and always seem to be buying parts for something it would be worth it.

The house would be gambling and would only get those fees from the high users that would personally benefit.

It's like Amazon or a warehouse club-- the stuff sells at a profit anyway but the annual fee is icing on the cake for them.
