Looks like Californian knows how to deal with motorcyclist who split lanes.

Why it is so hard to give motorcyclist more room ?

Because when you're dealing with a-holes like the cager in this video, you gotta realize their mentality. They believe their time is more important than anyone else's, therefore, in their minds, they believe they have the right to run you off the road if you get in their way...IL is full of these aggressive and dangerous idiots...

Ya I don't mess with them either. Smart move to get over. Sometimes they will rent out a place I go to. Once they arrive I'll have one more beer and take off. Don't want to push my luck.

Both were acting like idiots ... but the guy in the car was the more aggressive one in this case. He started it all when he fly around traffic and pulls out into the intersection to try and block the bike coming between the two lanes of cars. Guy on the bike looked like he tried to get away from the car many times, but the guy in the car just kept perusing and increasing his aggressiveness instead of letting it go.

If the guy in the car would have happened to knock the guy off his bike and hurt him while using his car as a weapon, he would probable be facing some serious charges. Don't let petty things get out of hand and carry it way too far.

From my experience road rage is a a very short non event typically unless the other party engages the other.

Some folks are passive aggressive and sit in a lane to block and annoy. It just gets worst....

I just pretend nothing happened even if my fault with error that annoyed them and give no one satisfaction of eye contact and drive slower on letting them pass. Acting oblivious seems to work.

The only bad thing I have ever done is with aggressive tail gaters is [censored] them off knowing a cop is ahead by speeding up and then slowing without brakes and find them riding me and blue lights turn on.

What I don't understand is why the guy on the bike didn't hammer it and get the he!! away from the cager...there's no way he could've kept up if the guy on the bike had made a run for it, and if he'd gotten stopped for riding like that, he could've just shown the cop the video of the guy trying to run him off the road...the best thing to do in these situations if you're on a bike is to just get as far away from the cager as possible, and that's easy to do if you have a bike with any power at all...cars simply can't match the speed and acceleration of a motorcycle unless they're some type of exotic sports car, which a Ford Fusion is not...

That's how you get killed. The idea is to get away from a driver like that as quickly as possible and on city streets like that you never know when another vehicle or person will dart out in front of you. I would have just slowed up and let the car go ahead, and then I would take a turn at the first opportunity. It is almost never a good idea to stomp on it--you can't watch what is happening behind you and if you try to you are not watching what is happening in front of you.

It was obvious to me the cager was not going to just leave the biker alone...every time the guy on the bike stopped, the cager stopped as well, so I don't think your solution would've put an end to the situation...I could've gotten so far away from that cager so quickly, he would've never known where I went...then again, I've been riding for over 40 years so I may have a bit more experience than this rider has...

What I don't understand is why motorcyclists use snarky and disrepectful language like cagers to refer to people who drive automobiles.

How about a-hole, is that better? What would you call the guy driving the car in this video? The guy's obviously got a screw loose...

No. Obviously, it's not better.

I would call both of them criminals.

The term "cager" has been around a long time. It simply means someone inside an enclosed vehicle. I don't see it as disrespectful ... no more than saying 'biker' is a disrespectful term for a motorcyclist because 'biker' might refer to some specific sort of motorcyclist (ie, He!!'s Angle).

The only things wrong I saw the biker do is to keep taunting the a-hole in the car, and not removing himself from the situation fast enough. I would've ridden illegally as well to get away from that guy...getting a ticket beats dying every time...

Ok, ok. It's a matter of preference. The motorcycle HAS preference over the cager, as a bicicke has over the cager and also over the motorcycle. And a pedestrian has it over all other vehicle. Like someone would fight a person for running around a stopped car in redlight...

As having preference it can go in front of the cager, since there is apart for an easier lanch. Nonetheless, the real factor bikers go up front is for a safety standpoint. It is a safer position, for not being slammed by other vehicle while waiting the green sign, naturally using a cager as shield.

People need to go to the books (transportation law) with a minimal notion of hierarchy in regards to rights and freedom. If it is not in the Law as lane splitting as forbidden action, a cager has not to make a macho protected in a cage scalating the preffered vehicle pilot by the sole fact this preference comes from its hipossuficiency specially in safety. The cager has serious attitude problem and a lack of civikity and law notion. That why the biker shoeed the film he made.

Then it's legal. Anything that's not expressly illegal is, by default, legal. That's in the Constitution.
