Road rage due to motorcycle lane splitting. Idiot in car instigating trouble, just let the motorcycle proceed and not get mad if they split lanes.

I see this everyday and don't get mad if motorcycle goes to the front of stopped traffic at red light.

Lane splitting is illegal in most states and here in New York is very likely to get you pulled over. Bottom line, is road rage is never good and if the best course is to ignore things that aren't a danger to you, and avoid things that are a danger.

99% of road rage incidents have no victim. Both sides are equally at fault. But articles like this always makes one side appear to be the victim.

The motorcyclist was being a pr-ck for escalating things. As a motorcyclist he's vulnerable to being killed but he wants to play chicken with a car who's aggressive? And then he passes illegally against on-coming traffic so he can give the car driver a piece of his mind??? Dumb

Idiot biker could have defused the situation at any time and just turned and back-tracked until the motorist went away. Driving in on-coming traffic "to get away" was not very smart. I wonder if both these chuckle heads were fined/arrested?

The above RR incident is one for the record books with lots of karma. I'd bet a lot of us have played each of those 3 roles in one way or another.

The Camaro and pickup were both at fault--the pickup was obviously deliberately blocking, but the guy with the dash cam was almost involved because he was following way too close. When you see anyone involved in road rage just get away before you get mixed up.

Lane splitting is legal here. Its funny seeing people try and crowd the bikers, then they get their mirrors knocked off. I always, always, move over and give them room. Most of the time I get a wave or a nod thanking me, especially when it is a HA group.

Didn't look that way to me. Guy with the camera didn't even have to brake hard. I would say, it was a bad time to be answering the phone, Bluetooth or not. But.....In no way was he close to being involved.

Being able to split is one of the few things I miss about CA. Not having situations where splitting would help happen very often more than makes up for it.

I move over a little to give them more space if I notice they are coming, but usually they startle me with their constant throttle blipping as they come along side. It should be illegal. Then again I don't want to ride behind a tailpipe from a motorcycle either, and would rather see them go away in the distance. They aren't getting anywhere anyway, to do what when they get there, one minute ahead? Everyone is in a constant hurry these days, it makes driving less enjoyable. There is so much anger on the roads.

Unless something has changed since I went through the MAF course, California is the only place where lane splitting is legal.

In any case, that was the Fusion driver's fault, but could have easily been deescalated by the biker. He chose the other route and continued antagonizing.

Same here. The motorcyclist going in between lanes isn't hurting me, I try to stay out of the way. I did once have a motorcyclist turn around in his seat to give me the finger, not sure exactly why, but he ran into the car in front of me when he did.

I can see these types of altercations constantly. I just avoid lane splitting all together (illegal up here). It's risky and goes against the "holding your lane" rule I've been taught.

IMHO, I'd rather wait for the carpool lane to take advantage of being on a bike

The video cut so we couldn't see. When the other driver was stopped in front of the work van and they were flipping each other off, the dude on the bike lane split again to get back up to him? Dude on the bike has no sense.

IMO, lane-splitting is a questionably stupid practice even where legal. Doing it in areas where its ILLEGAL is just begging to be an organ donor, not because you're going to anger a driver (although that's going to happen) but because drivers absolutely TOTALLY aren't expecting it and won't clue in to [censored] is happening for a second or two after they actually see you. Surprising the boogers out of other vehicle operators on the road is just not a smart thing to do, ever.
