Seen it many times. Hackman plays a great foil character to Willem Defoe 'by the book', character. Mississippi Burning one of my favorite movies.I liked the scene in "Mississippi Burning", where he played an FBI Agent. He walked into a local hillbilly bar, and they started giving him crap. It didn't take long before they all regretted it. I can't post the scene because of language.... But it's one well worth looking up.
I’d like to remember Gene as his tough guy persona, but if you Google “ last photos of Gene Hackman” you’ll see he was probably ready to go. RIP.
Police already said it doesn't seem like foul play. Someone on the radio this morning also speuclated carbon monoxide poisoning.Carbon Monoxide probably. Highly doubt it was foul play.
A lot of people in Ontario use natural gas for their heating but it is also mandatory to have CO detectors in all new homes built (at least one on every floor too) and landlords must install them on their rental units. CO poisoning doesn’t happen often here.I never liked that version of The Quick and the Dead, but he was great in Enemy of the State and many other films. He had a commanding presence in any film.
I will let the police do their investigations without jumping to conclusions. CO poisoning certainly sounds like a possibility. It is one of the many reasons my house is all electric.
What about Otisburg? OTISBURG!??!My dream of living in Teschmacher Peaks is shattered.
Same in Colorado. I have multiple CO detectors on each floor. Methyl Mercaptan is what is typically added to NG to give it that "rotten" smell else, NG would not have any smell.A lot of people in Ontario use natural gas for their heating but it is also mandatory to have CO detectors in all new homes built (at least one on every floor too) and landlords must install them on their rental units. They put a chemical in the natural gas here so that if there is a leak you can smell it. I had an external leak at the outside meter on one of my homes and it was immediately noticeable.
It is considerably cheaper to heat a house up here with natural gas compared to electric, even with our relatively cheap electricity rates.
That is exactly the smell I had when I had my leak. Called the fire department and they showed up within five minutes and had their CO detectors out and confirmed the leak.Same in Colorado. I am guessing that is what happened--CO leak during the night and it sadly took all their lives. That is exactly the smell I had when I had my leak. Called the fire department and they showed up within five minutes and had their CO detectors out and confirmed the leak.
If it does turn out to be the case and that they didn’t have any detectors in the house then that’s even more tragic because it was totally preventableI am guessing that is what happened--CO leak during the night and it sadly took all their lives.
What was really interesting, and that most people don't know, is the entire chase scene in "The French Connection", was done illegally. Stunt driver Bill Hickman drove for over 20 blocks at 95 MPH through Queens with no permits, coordination, or planning!https://www.bbc.com/news/articles/cewkkkvkzn9o
During the course of channel surfing, the French Connection is one of those movies where the remote is put down, and the film is allowed to run.
CO is partial combustion - no smell and raw unburned NG or propane are different with required odorant and of course stinkSame in Colorado. I have multiple CO detectors on each floor. Methyl Mercaptan is what is typically added to NG to give it that "rotten" smell else, NG would not have any smell.
