Correct. Sounds like it could be possible CO poisoning, or something similar. He lives in Santa Fe, New Mexico, and that is at 7,000 ft. elevation. So it's cold there. This is his home in Santa Fe.

The press shows all these great photos of him at about 60 years old, but Gene was 97. I’m guessing a joint suicide after they put down their dog. Very sad.

This happens more frequently than one might think. I remember when the tennis star Vitas Gerulaitis died back in 1994 of CO poisoning. He was staying in the guest house of a friend in New York. And as it turned out, an improperly installed propane swimming pool heater somehow leaked CO into the bedroom where he was sleeping. He was only 40 years old.

One of our investigators got the nickname "Popeye" because of the pork pie hat he wore like Jimmy Doyle (Gene Hackman) did in The French Connection. Both were classics. RIP Gene.

I liked the scene in "Mississippi Burning", where he played an FBI Agent. He walked into a local hillbilly bar, and they started giving him crap. It didn't take long before they all regretted it. I can't post the scene because of language.... But it's one well worth looking up.

RIP. He had a very storied career with a lot of great movies. If no foul play is suspected, it very well could've been CO poisoning. That happened to a mother and her 3 kids near here in the wake of hurricane Helene. She left a propane fireplace going for heat without sufficient ventilation. They all died in their sleep along with their pets.
