I drove a Mini Moke around Darwin, Australia many years ago. Although the roads were not crowded at all, I found it a bit disconcerting to change from driving on the right side of the road to the left. I managed w/o damaging the mini or anything else. Lately I'm seeing a fair number of domestic market older Japanese vehicles in eastern NC. I assume they are age compliant to be imported. Seem unique enough to be fun. Postal delivery personnel are very good at it.

Does anybody have a rhd vehicle and what is it like to drive on our roads?

Mine was just like this one

There are age rules that make importing older cars easier.

Believe it or not one year I had a guy come through the emissions testing center with a rhd jeep wrangler he bought new and stipulated rhd. Apparently hevwas originally from the Philippines or Indonesia and wanted a vehicle like h grew up with.

You can buy a RHD Wrangler brand new at a Jeep dealer in the US.

Although they are primarily intended for rural postal carriers, they are available to the public.

This what surprised him. He didn't think they'd sell him one. I read of a few Nissan skyline owners on occasion have drive backwards through the drive through to order.

you see small economical vehicles for sale on line BUT a hassle $$ to import + register!

I rented a car about a decade ago in the Bahamas where they drive on the "wrong" side of the road. What made it interesting was the Chinese imported "Cherry QQ" they gave me as a "compact" was configured for US driving, I sat in the left seat.

I got the postal worker experience but also driving on the "wrong" side of the road. Always felt like I was too close to the side of the road/ditch for comfort, surely something one would get used to.

As it pertains to navigating RHD roads, roundabouts (of which there are plenty there) were a bit challenging, the rest was just putting all your attention toward driving and doing it backward from what I'm used to.

I drive a RHD daily as I am a rural mail carrier for USPS and I get asked this often. It a few days to get used to but it’s really no different than a LHD vehicle. The only part that sucks is I can’t use drive-throughs at fast food restaurants (at least not easily) and depending on traffic conditions if I need to pass a slow moving vehicle on a two lane road it’s nearly impossible as I can’t see oncoming traffic. All assuming I have no passenger, of course.

My friend owns a L200 Delica and it's been pretty fun to go around PNW outdoors. Turning left, drive through were the only problems with RHD. Helps to have USDM parts availablity which makes servicing easier.

Getting pulled over by WSP by trooper thinking the driver was using their phone was not fun.

It depends on what vehicles you are looking for. Alot of importers will do all of the paperwork and shipping, you just have to be diligent about everything. Some vehicles have a cult following and cost like crazy others are fairly affordable.

Sales figures for RHD vehicles in No. America would be interesting.
I read Subaru halted delivering RHD vehicles here years ago and I thought that was funny as such vehicles are their usual product.
That made me think the Jeep RHD vehicles must've been the sales leader by a lot.
I haven't seen a RHD Jeep in eons!

Years ago I had a GF in St. Thomas USVI. Back then you drove on the left side of the road, BUT the cars were left hand drive. Talk about weird.
