I recently went to my local Advance Auto store to see if they had any motor oil on sale, since I use whatever's the cheapest these days. They didn't have one brand of oil, not even their generic store brand, that was less than $4.99 a qt. I never thought I'd see the day when you couldn't buy conventional motor oil for less than $5, but that day has come. Where do you guys find your deals on oil? I sure as he!! ain't paying $5 a qt for generic oil.

Wal-mart. You can get 5-qts. of Mobil Super 5000 or Quaker State for under $13 at mine.

If I don't buy at at Walmart I buy it at FleetFarm or FarmandFleet. Both are great.

FarmandFleet has formula shell for 1.99 now. They usually have a generic in the 1.75 a quart range, usually Mystik.

I'm currently getting my oil at Wal-Phart, but I've never seen those brands that cheap there. Super Tech is always the cheapest I've found...

I'll have to check them out....

If you have a Costco in your area , they usually have a good sale on Formula Shell , I stocked up on some cases on the last sale , $1.75 qt.

Most brands of conventional oil are periodically sold for less than $3.00/qt. in my area. This week, Mobile Super 5000 is at $2.79. Last week it was Chevron Supreme at $2.29, etc. etc.

You must live in an area with few competitive vendors, e.g. Costco, Walmart, etc.

I wouldn't pay $4.99/qt for any motor oil on this planet.

Then ignore the thread. Nobody's forcing you to read it, or post in it...

Too bad we can't force people to use the search function.

You sure are posting a lot for someone who has no inerest in this thread...

Ok, you're right. I'm sorry. I'm just tired of seeing new threads on this same topic, but I guess that means it's a hot issue. I didn't mean to take it out on you or your thread.

Big Mills Fleet Farm fan myself! I noticed they just started selling "5+" quart jugs (5.1 qts., I think) of brand name oil. They used to only sell their Resolute house-brand in 1 gallon and 2 gallon jugs - plus gallon jugs of name-brand diesel oil (Rotella, Delvac, etc.)

Saw SynPower had gone up from $25 for 5-qts to $29 at my local Walphart. Online was still $21, so at the time I could have ordered online (for $21) and picked it up in-store. Pretty stupid policy, but hey. I knew the price would go up on Walphart.com, but I had other obligations, couldn't go back to Walphart. Now that I can, it's $29 online. Annoying. Hopefully it'll go back down before too long.
