Why would the bottle have anything to do with the additive package of an oil.
Please explain in detail

The product inside the bottle is exactly the same as other retailers.



They are bottled different so the consumer can't price match from different retailers because technically they aren't the same,therefore a price adjustment doesn't apply.

This guy was joking. Seriously, just a joke.


For example, the Mobil 1 oil bottles are the same size at Walmart and the Auto Part stores, the only difference is that the quantity in the bottle.
 
Walmart is merciless when it comes to vendors. Most vendors have an office in Bentonville just to deal with Walmart. They can demand a lower price in exchange for the volume they buy. That works fine for cat food and microwaves but unsure about motor oil. What percentage of motor oil sold (for cars and light trucks) is sold retail anyway. Most people do not change their own oil. Maybe 10%? So Walmart sells 1/2 of that so 5% of the market. Jiffy Lube might have a better bargaining position than Walmart.
 
I notice that they make you walk to the farthest corner of the store past the maximum amount of merchandise that they can to get to the oil. The oils are usually kind of picked over looking in my area.

I bet Wal-Mart sells nothing as a loss-leader. But the oil probably comes pretty darn close.

This is not the first time you have made this baseless and completely incorrect assertion. You have no proof and you never will, ExxonMobil says they are the same and they are.

Unless you have a "Walmart PDS" that you are willing to share that shows different specs for their bottles of oil, then stop being a fool.

I think we should have a lottery on which ends sooner: questions about Wal-Mart vs same oil elsewhere or debates regarding what constitutes synthetic oil. Problem is none of us will live long enough to collect either one.

Only one way to test that theory . . . . Anyone want to volunteer to send virgin oil analyses for several different brands, one of each from Walmart and one of each from an auto parts store?

I'm missing it.which oils are different? And does the pqia state which bottles were bought where.
If boxcartommie is correct I will publicly apologize. However if there is any differences I'd bet its batch variance. I think that they are allowed to have the % of additives to be within a certain variance.
If possible could someone point out to me where the inconsistencies are,which brands and such please.

Absolutely untrue! Would be a liability & reputation nightmare for oil companies.
 
Walmart sells almost everything at lower price mainly because of:

1. Buying higher volume therefore paying less per unit.
2. Slimmer profit margin per unit because of selling higher volume.
3. Overhead cost is lower than others.

Not only Walmart sells oil for less than competitors, they sell other auto parts such as light bulbs, ATF, brake fluid ... for less too, some parts at 15-20% less other parts for as much as 25-30% less.

Same thing with Amazon, with much higher volume than competitors Amazon sells may items for less than anyone else, when you take into account shipping cost.

???? If they were the same size, then why would there be a difference in the quantity in the bottle?

However, they are not the same size (at least in the case of WalMart versus AutoZone); Walmart has a 4.73L bottle and AutoZone has a 5.0L bottle for Mobil 1 (and some of the others as well--like Mobil Super).

I get a huge laugh when members here say, "I will NEVER buy oil from China Mart!" Ok then, go to Auto Drone and pay $10 or more for the same oil! And, check your pride at the door!
 
The question is: If big auto parts store chains like O'Reilly buys
their oil in volume, why can't they have low prices like Walmart?
