Great!Mobil 1 ESP 0W-20 is readily available at Walmart.
I already just purchased the new M1 0-40 formulation that has LL-01 for my BMW…Castrol 0w40 .
I would say yes, but I would like to know what @edyvw thinks. He may recommend a Euro xw-30 for your application instead of a xw-40.Can I make life easier and use M1 0-40 for the Q5 or should I stick with ESP X2?
OE Audi oil is nowhere near the price of ESP X2…it’s almost $10/qtWhy not buy the recommended oil from the dealer? I buy VW oil from my dealer and it is almost the same price as anywhere else.
I would not. I would use Mobil1 ESP 0W30. It is VW 504.00/507.00 oil. You get decent bump in HTHS, but still using low-SAPS oil.Great!

CPO and AudiCare just expired so this is our first oil change myself!
Why not use liquimoly? What’s the easiest to find 508 spec oil to recommend from a mainstream?
I know LiquiMoly offers one but over the years I’ve swayed away from them…
N55 535i. I like this idea too, especially here in AZ with hot climate...after the engine turns off the oil is more likely to burn off quicker than a colder climate if that makes any logic?I would not. Which BMW?
The same handle that recommended a Euro oil in a HDEO application?I would say yes, but I would like to know what @edyvw thinks. He may recommend a Euro xw-30 for your application instead of a xw-40.
Nah. F10 has overkill cooling system. AZ heat is more forgiving than altitude in Colorado for example. So, don’t worry about that.N55 535i. Yeah, and?The 0w-20 x2 is a good choice. It has the spec you're after.
The same handle that recommended a Euro oil in a HDEO application?![]()
great thanks -- sounds like ESP 0W30 is the right choice. I'll go with that since I am out of warranty now so who cares if its not 508.Nah. F10 has overkill cooling system. AZ heat is more forgiving than altitude in Colorado for example. So, don’t worry about that.
In N55 I would stick to thickest and most shear stable XW40. Mobil1 0W40 is fine choice.
In Q5 move to Mobil1 ESP 0W30. Readily available in Wal Mart, good ZDDP package, still Low SAPS oil, good shear stability and minimum HTHS of 3.5cP (which is what matters actually, not the grade).
Yes, I trust him.The same handle that recommended a Euro oil in a HDEO application?![]()
So, VW504.00/507.00 always goes together.M1 ESP 5W-30 is 504 oil. 507 is diesel spec. this is the oil for 2.0T.
This is what I use in my 2019 Q5 with the 2.0 motor. What’s the easiest to find 508 spec oil to recommend from a mainstream?
