Recommend oil for me.

Im looking to switch to a synthetic oil for my 98 S-10 2.2L 4cly.
Im using Valvoline 5w-30 WB with a A/C Delco filter.
Just lookling for extended OCI and protection.

ditch the delco and get a pure one, bosch, mobil 1, K&N, or at minimal a motorcraft filter.

To go to a really long OCI, you need Mobil 1 EP or Castrol Edge. They are warranted for 1 year/15,000 miles. Of the two, I would go with Mobil 1 EP (some Edge UOAs have shown a lot of TBN depletion with less than 15,000 miles).

I normally do 7500 miles with regular synthetic oil, but you can go longer. I also prefer WIX or NAPA GOLD oil filters.

Personally if it were me I'd spring for an oil analysis before I changed anything - you may be able to extend the OCI of your current oil and filter.

I just installed a new timing set would that alter the oil analysis?

No, unless the timing was horribly off before.

I dont think anyone ever says it but SuperTech and SuperTech filter!!!! Perfect for the cheap oil fan.
