Honda K24 Valvetrain, 135K miles

0-95K miles: every 3-4K using conventional 5W20 and dealer filter.

95-now. Every 5K using higher-end synthetic oils (e.g. M1 EP, PP, etc.), One 10K OCI of HPL. Currently on second 5K interval of Valvoline Restore & Protect.

Oil consumption was reduced from 1 qt/2k to .5 qt/2500-3K after Valvoline Restore & Protect was used.

I’d suspect the pictures prior to HPL wouldn’t have looked much worse; but the VRP is clearly cleaning up the pistons. Working as advertised!

Their high-revving nature. VTEC yo.

Piston rings get stuck with deposits and/or some cylinder wall scoring.

Pretty clean. I’d stick with HPL but that’s my opinion
