Rant - Please do not hoard motor oil.

Mobil 1 ESP (LL04/MB 229.51/VW 507) is on sale this month at my local Pepboys and someone keeps coming in every week and buying it all (2-3 cases). Hoarding causes shortgages since some people need to buy it to use now and not use 2 yrs down the road. Please don't do it.

Just get a top tier/boutique oil. I do and gots no problems like that. The cheapies that hoard by the tonne to save a buck a few years down the road won't touch the expensive stuff. It's like kriptonite to them.

The cheap stuff is always easy to find, even on sale...especially at Pep Boys...

It happens to me everytime delo400 goes on sale at walmart. It's like putting salt in the wound. Completely out of stock and then I end up having to go to autozone and spend an extra 15 dollars to do an oil change.

I have enough oil...I won't hoard...unless I find another screamin' deal like Mobil 1 Turbo Diesel Truck 5W40 for $1.98/Qt...then, well, then, I might increase my stash by a case or so...

So how about you bring a chocolate bar to the manager and get the inside scoop on when the sales roll around. Get there early morning on the day of the sale where one of 2 things will happen...

A: you get there first and buy up the stash, leaving nothing on the shelf

or

B: you catch the [censored] that's been buying all the oil at which point you can snatch a jug from his cart while he's not looking.

We don't. To call it hoarding would be jumping to conclusions with no facts.

I'm prepared plenty from previous sales to last me a year until i catch the next big sale. I don't hoard. I'll leave a few quarts on the shelf for the next guy.

Same thing happens here whenever Pennzoil 5w20 conventional shows up at Ace Hardware. Costs $9.31 at the Chrysler dealership, which is the only other place you can buy the stuff, so when it shows up for $6.90 at Ace, the same person ends up buying all the stock.

How do you know its the same exact person? What if a few people came in a each bought a jug or 2.

I bought about 90 quarts of closeout oil from AAP a few years ago in one day. I couldn't pass up 49 cent per quart Havoline HM and 69 cent Havoline Synthetic SL rated oil. This stuff will still be perfectly OK to use in 10 years.

I could care less if SN rated oil is 'better' than SL oil.
