This is the 2nd UOA on my 2010 Fusion. Oil is always 5w-20 SM dino that meets or exceeds the Ford specs. Car is used 50% hwy & 50% city, give or take a little. This current UOA is my third run of QS brand dino oil; any “normalization” to that fluid should have taken place by now. Any item not noted is at zero.

Blackstone notes (abbreviated):
Wear metals low; univ avg is based upon 4.9k miles; silicon is only thing lingering a bit. No contaminants found. TBN strong at 3.0.
My notes:
The “universal avg” is 4.9k miles, and I went 7.5k miles (53% more). I’d say my engine is wearing nicely, since my numbers are now at average values, with more than average mileage. The Si is a bit of an unknown, but it’s not manifesting in wear at this point, so I’m not going to worry about it. TBN is good with the QS. The first UOA was on dino Mobil, and it typically starts around TBN 8.7-9.0 or so according to some VOAs info I’ve found. The QS starts at around 7.5 or so. The Mobil dropped its TBN by a value of 5.0 in 6k miles, but the QS dropped only 4.5 is 7.5k miles. That’s interesting. However, I’d note that only two data points don't make for a firm conclusion, but more of a supposition. IOW - I cannot say for sure that the QS was "better" than the Mobil, but I can expect both would last further than 7.5k miles.
All fluids have been conventional oils (except for the presumed factory fill of MC semi-syn run for 1.5k miles); so much for the “nay sayers” that think semi-syn or syn is a must ... If it meets Ford’s specs, it’s good enough for me.
I was using QS dino oil because I got a lot of it on sale at $2/qrt from Menards more than a year ago. However, I’m now on Peak 5w-20 dino motor oil; they were the “flavor de jour” on sale with rebate at AAP, so I stocked up for three OCIs worth. Because I’m under warranty, I’m not going to push past the 7.5k miles. But it’s clear to me that I could easily go 9k, perhaps even 10k miles, on good ol’ dino oil.
