Hey all,

I bought a 5-quart jug of Q-State Torquepower 10w30 at walmart yesterday for $15.00. It was the last jug on the shelf. Anyone else see this?

It wasn't a special sale....the normal tag was in red and said $15.00.

Anyway....figured it was pretty darn cheap for a name brand synthetic and it would probably do well in my Legacy GT for a mid-summer tryout.

Any thoughts on this oil?

Joe

And I thought a jug of Q horsepower was cheap for $18....it was a 'rollback' price on the horsepower and torquepower.

I've always liked QS oils. The new line is coming out, so the old stuff is on closeout. I picked up a couple jugs of 5W30 HP for $18 (rollback) and some $15(clearance) 10W30 TP jugs plus some single quarts of 5W30 TP for $3.50 ea.

Hmmm... Now you know how much of a markup/profit margin there is. Seems quite a bit eh? They aren't going to mark it down to where they lose money.

Looks like Q Power name is being discontinued (which accounts for the clearance sale) and Quaker State is renaming all the oils for the "oil challenged" crowd so people won't have to worry about the difference between conventional, synthetic blend, synthetic, etc:

New Quaker State Oil Names

Advanced Durability
- conventional oil
Higher Mileage Engine - comes in a red bottle
Enhanced Durability - Synthetic Blend
Ultimate Durability - Full Synthetic

The information on their new website is pitiful (unless I just couldn't figure out where the specs are located).

Yep -- just found two 5 qt. jugs of Q Power 10-30 today at WM for $11 each. Not to decide whether I want to use it in my honda, which honda wants me to run 5-20.

I got 3 of the 5-qt jugs of 10w30 QS torquepower for $11ea at my local walmart. GREAT DEAL for a full synth!!! thanks for posting this thread otherwise i wouldn't have known, as the store didn't have the price posted correctly.

I am FAR from looking to buy oil, but $11 is insane. It'll go to the far rear of my oil cue, where I'll be using the oldest dated oils first.

I also found it at Wal-Mart for 11 Bucks. I bought eight jugs of it. Great deal but I just thought it was a local thing. What's funny is that they had the 5w30 for 11 and the 10W30 for 18. I show my receipt and got the 10W30 knock down to 11.
