Purolator Efficiency on Upgraded Oil Filters

I was under the impression the Boss series would do pretty well - I’ve always thought of it has as a Mann fleece filter, as found on many Mercedes in a can rated for 15K.

Now that Fram cheapened the Ultra series - is there no “real” depth media on the automotive side of things?
Still have Royal Purple & Amsoil; also, Fleetguard Stratapore & Donaldson Blue (if they make them in a size you can use). More $, unfortunately...

^^^ I believe the BOSS use to be worse efficiency than that in the earlier years after it came out. I'll have to see if I can find any historical info. Anyway, 99% @ 25u isn't bad, and the BOSS has nylon mesh reinforced media so they will never tear.

It seems like everyone is cheapening filters these days, so Fram Ultra still looks like one of the better ones out there.

Thanks for the clarification. It's a shame Fram discontinued their best oil filter ever made.
I suppose we can buy Fram Titanium at advance auto when they have 20% of promos, it's basically the same filter media and wire backed system of ultra. I guess it has a different improved bypass system and better seal, otherwise just like old Fram Ultra.

I just picked up a Titanium from AAP a couple days ago. The media is wire backed still. Same packaging as above.
Basically just am older fram ultra with improved seal and improved bypass system. I'm using new purolator 20K just so I can cut it open later and post. I'm switching to Fram Titanium. I did have one bad Fram Ultra that i has to send back to Fram and get replacement and plus got money back at Walmart. Center tube was crushed at the bottom.

Most of the Titaniums are not wire backed anymore and also lost the leaf spring sealing gasket. The Titanium is not still like the OG Ultra was, unless something has recently changed, but I don't think so.
