Oh yes, the old gateway drug theory. Sugar and caffeine are the ultimate gateway drugs.

Actually, the REAL gateway drug is and remains ALCOHOL!

The Mary Jane of today, One does not require smoking huge amounts of it. Half a lungful can me more than adequate., and is likely far less damaging to ones lungs than sitting in a traffic jam

I know of some who enjoy the act of smoking it, and deliberately seek out weaker strains so they can smoke larger amounts in joints.

This thread was originally about obnoxious smokers not respecting the rights of those who do not want to breathe their smoke.
People today have been trained to have less and less consideration for others and more of an entitlement like attitude.
I blame Feminism, social media and SmartPhones, in that order.

I don't think Feminism has much to do about it, but the other 2 for sure. Replace Feminism with lack of parenting skills and discipline.

I agree on public smoking is dreadful.

That is why I prefer to pay admission to events to rid the lower elements of society from attending.

Not so sure about that. Health effects are shown at about 40% down the page.

You can find a studies for anything that will show totally opposite findings, and pot's no different. I think a more accurate way to measure whether pot is harmful or not is look at how many people have chronic ailments due to the use of it. Certainly there would be tens of thousands of people with health issues if it caused them, as millions smoke it. Tobacco and alcohol use cause hundreds of thousands of deaths each year, but there are very few cases of people ailing from pot use...

That's because people don't smoke the equivalent of a 'pack a day' of pot. I'm sure if they did do that after many years they might not be in very good health for many reasons.

Using your theory, there are many things people consume that are far more dangerous than weed...if you eat 5 cheeseburgers a day you'll die at a young age from heart disease...if you drink a 12 pack of beer every day you'll die young from liver disease...if you eat a pound of candy every day you'll become diabetic...fact is, most people who smoke pot once or twice a day will likely never have any health issues because of it...yes, if you smoke 10 or 20 joints a day, you could have problems, but that's the case with anything...

Let all those idiots damage their lungs and be on oxygen tank.

Except that were paying for it.

So what? We pay for everyone's ailments. Does that mean we should all have a say of what goes into everyone's body? Do you exercise? I do, so if you don't, then I don't want to pay for any ailments you may have because of it...get the picture?

Is there a difference between actively damaging one's body, and one inactively doing so? Smoking has been shown to actively damage the body; while lack of exercise inactively does so too. [Maybe a poor diet can be inactive too--low veg intake combined with high carbs, but not McD's level of eating.]

Is that a distinction without merit?

Smokers SUCK, period. Any kind...and the "20-50 feet froma building" is so ridiculous. That's like saying you can set off a bomb 20-50 feet away and it won't harm anyone. What ever. I can smell smoke in my backyard from neighbors three houses down every afternoon when the wind shifts. I have to close my windows because of the "addicts". And yes, I agree with the weak minded statement. I don't buy the addict thing. I grew up with two parents who were "addicts". Translation....two people who could not deal with the good and bad of normal life and couldn't get past the oral fixation equivalent to a pacifier. Grow up already and deal. Oh yeah, quit smoking too.

Then like I said earlier, where are all of the people with pot related ailments? If it was harmful, there would be millions of them...

I guess you know all about the effects marijuana has on borderline bipolar individuals then?

You should really cease pretending to be an advocate for marijuana until you can rid yourself of a bias and THEN to some very in-depth study on ALL the effects to society as well as the individual.

I'm not an advocate of it and never claimed to be. I'm just sick of people and their 100 year old notions about it that aren't true...

Next thing you know people will be driving 10-15 MPH over the speed limit on interstates with little worry about getting a ticket.

I blame the anti-'gummint'/'gummint's laws' ideologies/attitudes such as; "I am going to do ANYTHING/EVERYTHING I like, even if it KILLS some other citizen of this country, laws be D***ED".

Sorry, but the peckerwoods' "personal freedoms/rights" to kill themselves DO NOT "Trump" MY right to health.

I remember seeing a white trash woman smoking a cigarette while holding a baby.
Very sad, I had my wife tell her to put her cigarette out and not have baby breathing that [censored] smoke.
