Prices going up.

There's an IGA in my town that's just 2 miles down the road, the only grocery store in this town. We never shop there because their prices are outrageous. We drive to Kroger which is 33 miles one way. Including the cost of gas to drive there, we still save >$25/wk.

What about Publix ?

They have lots of buy 1, get 1 free deals.
$10 off a $50 gas card with a $50 purchase grocery purchase deal. This deal is once or twice a month.

66 miles round trip to buy groceries. ☹️

Yes I have. Couldn’t believe how much it costed me to fill up the Escape on the way home the other day. I don’t believe it’s going down anytime soon. At least I will always have eggs though because my sister has chickens on her farm. Same with cows and pigs so plenty of beef and bacon for me lol. Still will have to pay for some of it which is fine at least it’s helping her out. I still don’t see the prices going down anytime soon though.

You're lucky your mom was a military sharpshooter and can bring home the bacon.
I'm still coming down next month for dinner when your mom culls a herd of Wildebeest.

I'm going to approach the political third rail on this one, but be prepared for the cost of basic necessities (food, gas, housing) to continue to increase rapidly due to excess cash chasing a fixed (or even slightly decreased due to recent events) quantity of goods. Basic economics. Better get it before it's gone (or can't be afforded)!
Gas is a world wide commodity. That's not really due to inflation but OPEC. Prices are typically up during the summer driving season. Opec+ said they'll produce more which will probably put a cap on how high it will go.

Prices have NOT gone up. The value of the dollar has gone DOWN because there is so much of it in circulation.

Pumping the economy with $6 trillion in new spending called Build Back Better plan. Over the last 12 months, the all items index increased 5.4 percent before seasonal adjustment. This was the largest 12-month increase since a 5.4-percent increase for the period ending August 2008. $1.9 trillion American Rescue Plan. Spending our way into success has never worked.
The 'Infrastructure Bill' that Schumer is trying to push through Congress would cost nearly 5 TRILLION dollars....the sad part is that only 1.2 trillion goes to roads, bridges etc....the other 3.5+ trillion goes to 'pet projects'....

Regarding the OP's original observations, it's difficult for me to comprehend that anyone would think that we would not be going through a bumpy road of changes, considering that the entire globe is still under the influence of a catastrophic health issue. Think about about how everything was affected surrounding World War II. It is unreasonable to think that life in the U.S. is going to return to pre-pandemic conditions overnight no matter who is in charge. Be realistic. Our entitlement to our U.S. way of life is not immune to the global situation.

"Between April 1942 and June 1946, the period of the most stringent federal controls on inflation, the annual rate of inflation was just 3.5 percent; the annual rate had been 10.3 percent in the six months before April 1942 and it soared to 28.0 percent in the six months after June 1946"

I just told my wife the same hamburger that I purchase last night was priced 13.6% higher than Friday two weeks ago when I ordered the exact same one at that same location.

I mentioned to the employee that I guess this is transitory, right....

Good thing you finally noticed.

Tip: buy a cardigan sweater now before the winter comes. You will be asked to put it on. Prices of sweaters will skyrocket on the demand.
Haha I think we wore those in the 90s over turtleneck t's (The Gap??):D

We do the same thing. To anyone in the DFW area, HEB in Burleson will sometimes run milk at 50 cents a gallon and eggs 50 cents a dozen. That store gets PACKED!! We'll make the drive all the way over there and load up on groceries.

Filling up my Accord is now getting over $30. I remember in the mid 2000s when premium was almost $5 I would get near the $100 filling up my 300ZX.

Shoot, I don't really pay attention to prices since I really only buy for myself and frequently shop in the buy-one-get-one-free sections. It's good not being a picky eater :).

But I've noticed prices going up as much as the "help wanted" signs.
