Found another AAP this morning with some Total Quartz on the shelves... Took the 5w40 and 10w60 .

I went to the 2 closest AAPs and there was no Total anywhere.

I picked up two jugs of PP 5W30 on rollback at Walmart for $23.78 each. That plus the $20 rebate from Pennzoil brought the price down to $13.78/jug. Nice!

1 - 5 qt jug of QSAD 5w20 conventional SN at AAP, marked way up but beaten back down to $10 after a $5 speed perk. It is earmarked as a break in oil to enjoy brand new RTV or junk that falls into the JDM engine for my Toyota Matrix project.

2 - 5qt jugs of Castrol Edge 10w30 at Autozone for $43 - $20 rebate = $23. Picking it up tomorrow afternoon. Fancy stuff for small engine equipment.

Advanced Auto near work and found the last of the clearance Total Quartz and picked up two quarts 5w30, twelve quarts 0w20. $30.93 out the door.

Today; 5x 0W40 M1 FS Euro 4.73L jugs. Now I can do 5w30 Dexos 1 Gen3 API SP vs GTX 10W40 SP vs 0W40 FS in a 2022 3.6L Acadia. It’s going to take a few years ladies and gentlemen and transgenders, I’ll post the UOAs.

Two of 5w30 INEO LL
Two of 5w30 9000 Energy

I bought a gas tank amount of Total Quartz again today at half the clearance price from 2 weeks ago. I'm done done, and too embarassed to publish the amount. A few of those were 10w60 quarts for the John Deer fleet.

Six quarts 5w30

$18.55 for ten quarts, not to shabby.

Pretty much nothing thicker than 10W30 can be ILSAC rated anymore, 0W40, 5W40, and 10W40 technically can be but I think it's pretty much impossible to meet the fuel economy requirements of ILSAC with any Xw40 since the HTHS has to be over 3.5, and 20W50 has never been an ILSAC grade.

Yep, that's what I thought and after looking at my Mobil-1 & Pennzoil 0w40 jug specs out in the garage, it just states SP and nothing else that's ILSAC or GF-6.

Another question....
Are all Dexos 2 gas / diesel oil additive specs compliant with most gasoline engine manufacturer's catalytic converters?

Oh wait..... hang on! Didn't I just recently read that the new SP spec now separate gas oils from diesel oils?...... meaning the writing on jugs will no longer say we can use either diesel or gasoline with this oil? Didn't that stop with SN Plus?

There’s at least four or five GTX 20w50s to choose from. I got the plain Jane SP, but there’s also super clean, high mileage, Euro A3/B4, motorcycle and Classic Car.
