In: Valvoline FSHM 0W20/TG7317

It had a slight lifter tick and when I drained it the oil was like water. Tick went away after the change so I wonder if the mobil1 couldn't handle 6 months in her car. The Valvoline modern engine I've used the past few years never came out like that and I changed it yearly with it so we'll see if the Valvoline high mileage comes out like water or not.

That access looks very convenient. Love it when companies think about maintenance.
It is. I posted it because i know some new Hyundai vehicles use a cartridge filter that requires a step or two more to remove. Like you said, i'm glad its straight forward and very easy.

For those questioning the drop of oil on the filter, i had already loosened it to allow partial drain before removing it. Less mess that way.

Just got the oil changed in both the Buick and the Honda. Used up the last of the Mobil 1 EP 0w20 for the CRV and still working through my stash of Castrol GTX HM for the LeSabre. The CRV went 6000 miles and was black with the expected smell of gasoline. Took some pics of the oil out of the Buick. Only 2k over the last year and no gas smell but a year is the longest I wanted to go with either vehicle in part because getting the filters off is always a bit stiffer than when I normally do my OCI's @ 6 mos. Carquest Premium filter on the CRV and the last of my K&N Gold filters for the Buick. Have another Carquest Blue left for it but will likely go back to Wix for both after I'm out. Funny how selecting oil for the Honda requires a bit more of my brain cells, but for that 3.8 in the Buick, well, it just isn't picky as long as I keep the viscosity on the thicker side. I have run Castrol Edge HM 5w30 before and it was fine but other 5w30's sometimes create clacking noises when starting in cold temps so 10w30 it is. I do have a oil pan warmer if need be. Will see how Winter rolls this year in the Great White North!

I'll be doing another OCI by Thanksgiving on the Altima in my sig. Most likely I'll use either CarQuest Full Syn or SuperTech Full Syn. I have both in my stash. And I may in fact keep on the same ULTRA filter as it only has ~10K miles on it so, one more OCI isn't going to hurt.

2015 Honda Civic 1.8 LX(TOTALED) I just hate it when that happens.
