I think the recommended filter for an air-cooled VW is burlap.
Cheesecloth is the upgrade.

I'm trying out a blend in my B&S lawnmower engine: 50% GTX 5w30, 25% VR1 20w50, & 25% VR1 10w30.
Not really a grand design here; just using up random bits of oil laying around the garage.
I wonder how B&S feels about their engines being used as lube oil guinea pigs.

Mobil 1 5w-30 HM, 10w-30 HM and 0w-40 is what my car has been running. I've been bouncing around the different grades, just for fun, lol. As far as filters go, Mobil 1 filter with the oil sales, or a P1 if the oil is not on sale.
