Post a photo of your oil on dipstick (with miles)

I suppose when you put it that way, you're right. Hopefully the engine doesn't implode on me. I think I've some people report on here, engine seizures in Theta IIs that had no issues before, including oil consumption.
I think you should at least report it with the dealer so it’s on file just in case. Hopefully things improve further but imo it’s always best to plan for the worst

1qt/500 miles

But it didn't happen immediately after the first change. It actually wasn't until after about half way through the second change I noticed any reduction in oil consumption.
Honestly, if it were me, and I bought a used car with an extended warranty that was burning 1qt/500 miles, I would absolutely try to get the dealer to fix it or make it right somehow. It sounds like you were handed down an engine with unknown or possibly bad maintenance history (I don’t know the background on these engines) and now you’re left with the bill to fix it.

that amount of oil burning is considered abnormal by most of not all Japanese/korean auto manufacturers per the owner manuals and oil burning defect campaigns I’ve seen

2011 Focus SE 2.0 duratech.

97,689 miles on odometer. Oil changed to HPL NO VII5w20 and Delvac 1 ESP 5w40 at exactly 95,000 Sunny day makes getting decent photos tough.

Pictures are from today. I'm Over 4000 miles on my third fill of the Valvoline Restore and Protect 5W30 in my 2019 Kia Sportage (2.4) sitting at 117k. I'm doing 5,000 miles OCIs and will change the oil this weekend.

Kinda disheartened by the consumption fluctuating so much. Check out my notes: (I should have started this sooner)

"
11/18, 117,353 miles
568 miles and 23 hrs since top off
- added 1 qt

11/14, 116,785 miles
670 miles and 28hrs since top off
- added 1 qt
"
So over the last 1200 driven miles, I've averaged 600miles/1qt of oil in terms of consumption. I've definitely had better performance since using this product, not sure why its going back up.

FIL's Jeep Renegade has a new motor and says check it hot. I didn't know how much different on his so took it to work one night. Same thing about 1/8". Since he had oil pressure issues from scored cylinders and who knows if stuck rings in his "old" 82k motor, my plan is severe service schedule changes (4k on his) and using VRP from the start in 5W-30 instead of 0W-20 with factory filter. He has 18 months left on motor warranty after dealer replaced it.

3,400 on the OCI.
8,400 on the motor.
91,100 on the vehicle.
