Post a photo of your oil on dipstick (with miles)

2018 Sienna, had to fill the washer fluid and went ahead and checked the dip stick.

2700 miles, Castrol Magnatec 0w20. I did an intake repair about 4 months ago and will dump it in the next few months once it hits 3k. It get lots of short trips with kid stuff so its severe duty.

64 Ford Galaxie 390 V8
About 6 months and 700 miles of mostly short trips on the oil
M1 European 0W40 API SP, no additives.

Yes, it's 1/2 quart overfilled intentionally, but the oil flowed down the dipstick a long way while I was taking the picture before anyone asks.

First time using Amsoil Signature Series (previous oil was Mobil1). I’ve done 3-4 10,000 mile intervals on Mobil1.

This is the Amsoil 5W30 at 1,750 miles. I’ve never had an oil look this dark, this quick. 2016 Toyota Avalon (133,000 miles). It also seems to be using just a little bit of oil (the car has never done that).

Wait till you drain it, if you change yourself.
It must have a real cleaning effect- darkest I’ve ever seen while draining.

Yup, if any cleaning is actually taking place, there will be material present in the filter.
I’m doing the same commute/driving tendencies as always, and it looks vastly darker than the Mobil1 I used previously (I referenced the photos I put on this thread). I was told that this was a possibility, that this may happen.

Honestly I was hoping this wouldn’t happen. Now I’ll probably change the filter out at 7,500 miles and take a look. But otherwise, do you think it just could be that Amsoil darkens quicker than Mobil1 (all things being equal)? The Mobil1 (historically) in my engine always stays relatively clean looking all the way up around 7,000 miles. For instance, at 3,000 miles the Mobil1 generally looks almost brand new. 🤷🏻‍♂️🤷🏻‍♂️

Yes, it's absolutely possible that all you are seeing is just the additive package responding to heat.
