Post a great line from a song, the song's name, and the recording artist

“And I was standing on the side of the road
Rain falling on my shoes”

Tangled Up in Blue - Dylan
I was so proud of myself when I learned that on the guitar and could do all 7 verses. Also if you like a Jerry or Dylan voice I can do that too.

“Whichever way, your pleasure tends. If you plant ice, you’re gonna harvest wind.” Franklins Tower - Robert Hunter

“My challenge was answered in less than a heartbeat, that handsome young stranger lay dead on the floor.”

El Paso - Marty Robbins

  • Sad
Reactions: GON
“On a freight train leavin’ town, not knowin’ where I’m bound, no one could steer me right but mama tried.”

Mama Tried - Merle Haggard (edit before someone notices lol)

THE BAND - " Up On Cripple Creek " written by Robbie Robertson .

If I spring a leak, she mends me
I don't have to speak, she defends me

And this .

We had Spike Jones on the box
She said, "I can't take the way he sings
But I love to hear him talk"

:)

Just discovered Spike Jones was an entertainer from the 30s > '60s .

Lindley Armstrong "Spike" Jones was an American musician and bandleader specializing in spoof arrangements of popular songs and classical music. Ballads receiving the Jones treatment were punctuated with gunshots, whistles, cowbells, hiccups, burps, and outlandish and comedic vocals.

I have the whole collection and still listen to those Canadians. They started out as Bob Dylans backing players hence the title "the Band."

I have the box set on C.D.. Also have THE BAND - The Last Waltz on C.D. and on the D.V.R.. First watched it on PBS in the 80s' . Hooked since then . Also watched the Documentary of Levon Helms . Highly recommend it . Favorite song from THE LAST WALTZ is . Song starts at 27 seconds .

“That’s ok boy, won’t you feed him when you can.”

The Weight - Robbie Robertson

Bummer I have The Last Waltz on Blu Ray but don’t know where it is. I seem to recall Neil Young seemed to be interested in Joni Mitchell.

I can honestly say I was listening to The Band’s greatest hits on vinyl at the time I was getting into The Grateful Dead. Where did those 37 years go? 😂

Ps on Levon—there’s something about drummers who also do lead vocals. That’s talent!

Wanna tell you story
About woman I know
When it comes to lovin'
She steals the show
She ain't exactly pretty
Ain't exactly small
Fourt'two thirt'ninefiftysix
You could say she's got it all

AC/DC - Whole lotta Rosie

A couple from Steely Dan

"Throw Back The Little Ones"
Hot licks and rhetoric
Don't count much for nothin'
Be glad if you can use what you borrow

"Babylon Sisters"
The kid will live and learn
As he watches his bridges burn
From the point of no return

Forgot the classic " Hee-Hee " . That itself puts a 😀 on the face .

MONTROSE - " Space Station #5 " . A vision of the future ?

We were young but the memory still remains
To pick fruit from a tree, fish from the seas
Now nothin's left here but the stains

Remember the singer was unknown Sammy Hagar for the first few Montrose albums and tours?
I actually got to see them in that line up in a major outdoor festival July 1975. Amazing show included :
Montrose / Jeff Beck / Bob Seger / Trapeze / Black Oak Arknasas / Aerosmith / ZZ Top / J Geils Band / Peter
Frampton (right after he left Humble Pie).

Angry face!? Why? for missing it? What a great time. Just got out of High School n was makin good money already. That summer I did multi state trucking pipe and sprinkler systems delivery for a major Fire Protection company. Day job was in the pipe n fab shop and once we had a job made up / pre-fabbed boss sent me on the road. You know how different times were? My boss sent me (many times) out of state in the truck with his own personal credit card! I paid for everything with it from hotels to fuel and meals etc... and not one person asked to see my ID all across Fla to Texas and north to Ark to Oklahoma and back many times.
Sorry - way off subject. Posts about music just keep bringing many of the fun memories back. I was so big and strong back then I would
hoist my girlfriend over my shoulders and let her sit there thru the shows to see better.
