Post a great line from a song, the song's name, and the recording artist

In the space between our bodies
The air has grown small fingers
Just one caress, you're powerless
Like all those clapped-out swingers

"Destination"

The Church

Alvin Lee - Ten Years After Band.

Everywhere is freaks and hairies
xxxxxxx and xxxxxxx, tell me where is sanity
Tax the rich, feed the poor
'Til there are no rich no more?

I'd love to change the world
But I don't know what to do
So I'll leave it up to you

Population keeps on breeding
Nation bleeding, still more feeding economy
Life is funny, skies are sunny
Bees make honey, who needs money, Monopoly

I'd love to change the world
But I don't know what to do
So I'll leave it up to you

World pollution, there's no solution
Institution, electrocution
Just black and white, rich or poor
Them and us, stop the war

I'd love to change the world
But I don't know what to do
So I'll leave it up to you

Ten Years After - A Space in Time is a must have for a music collection .

Good humor in this song :D .

But I'd never sell my guitar
And my strings were always sharp
Cause if I don't have a guitar
I'll be strumming on some angels harp

STILLWATER - " Mind Bender " . Great lyrics . Talk box used for talking guitar .

My daddy was a Gibson
My momma was a Fender
That's why they call me ,
Mind bender
Mind bender
That's my name

That's Jackson Browne's song, if I am not mistaken.

Yes, it was Jackson Brown's song to start with, but Jackson did not finish the song and Glen Frey, a close friend at the time, asked Jackson if he could try and finish the song since Jackson had somewhat abandoned it years earlier.

Jackson Brown actually was a roommate of Glen Frey, and J.D. Souther, in the early 70's when all three lived together in Echo Park, Los Angeles. J.D. Souther later on lived with Linda Ronstadt his girlfriend, and he wrote a few of the hit songs Linda Ronstadt sang.

The Eagles always gave writing credits to Jackson Brown and Glen Frey.

He even did some acting over the years.

Who are you to wave your finger?
You must have been outta your head
Eye hole deep in muddy waters
You practically raised the dead
Rob the grave to snow the cradle
Then burn the evidence down
Soapbox house of cards and glass so
Don't go tossin' your stones around
You must have been high
You must have been high
You must have been

The Pot, Tool, 10,000 days

Learn to work the saxophone
(I) I play just what I feel
Drink Scotch whiskey all night long
And die behind the wheel
They got a name for the winners in the world
(I) I want a name when I lose
They call Alabama the Crimson Tide
Call me Deacon Blues

Deacon Blues, Steely dan, Aja

I wish that for just one time you could stand inside my shoes
And just for that one moment I could be you
Yes, I wish that for just one time you could stand inside my shoes
You'd know what a drag it is to see you

Positively 4th Street, Dylan, Positively 4th Street

She was working in a topless place
And I stopped in for a beer
I just kept looking at the sight of her face
In the spotlight so clear
And later on when the crowd thinned out
I's just about to do the same
She was standing there in back of my chair
Said, "Tell me, don't I know your name?"
I muttered something underneath my breath
She studied the lines on my face
I must admit I felt a little uneasy
When she bent down to tie the laces of my shoe
Tangled up in blue

Tangled up in blue, Dylan, Blood on the Tracks

Led Zeppelin does not get enough credit for their diversity of Blues grass influence vs. harder rock songs they are well known for, even though they are rated as the best Rock band of the earlier 70's era, and possibly edging out The Beatles of the 60's if that's even possible!

George Harrison was friends with Jonh Bonham and asked Bonham why Led Zeppelin did not do Ballads, That song Jimmy wrote by George Harrison's influence was, "The Rain Song" which I believe has already been Quoted in this thread and is one of my fav's. So, I won't list it again. IF not for George Harrison's comment to "Bonnzo" The Rain song, would not exist.

This is also one of my fav's among many other Led Zeppelin songs, they had many others that were not big top hits and not hard rock. like Down By the Seaside, ect.

Down by the seaside
See the boats go sailin'
Can the people hear
What the little fish are sayin'

Led Zeppelin, Jimmy Page / Robert Plant, Physical Graffiti

Then as it was, then again it will be
And though the course may change sometimes
Rivers always reach the sea
Blind stars of fortune, each have several rays
On the wings of maybe, down in birds of prey
Kind of makes me feel sometimes, didn't have to grow
But as the eagle leaves the nest, it's got so far to go

Changes fill my time, baby, that's alright with me
In the midst I think of you, and how it used to be

10 Years Gone, Led Zeppelin, Jimmy Page / Robert Plant, Physical Graffiti. "One of the most under rated songs of Their career."

Close the door, put out the light
No, they won't be home tonight
The snow falls hard and don't you know?
The winds of Thor are blowing cold
They're wearing steel that's bright and true
They carry news that must get through, oh
They choose the path where no-one goes
They hold no quarter

No Quarter, Led Zeppelin, Jimmy Page / Robert Plant/ Jonh Paul Jones, Houses of the Holy

For what's going on right now. From "War Pigs" by Black Sabbath. Change "their" to "his" for the time being.

Time will tell on their power minds
Making war just for fun
Treating people just like pawns in chess
Wait till their judgement day comes, yeah!

2 favorite verses :

Yeah, you've seen the old man's ghost
Come back as creamed chipped beef on toast
Now, if you don't get your slice of the roast
You're gonna flip your lid
Just like your dad did, just like your dad did

As the two year old says grace
She says, "Help the starving children to get well
But let my brother's hamster burn in hell."
You love your wife and kids
Just like your dad did

They want you to live on their rule, to walk just straight in the line
Big brother, so mean and so cruel, so obey and you'll doing fine

They want you, working 9 to 5, paying your tax all the way
They don't care if you're dead or alive, but they care what you do or say

Hey, Mr. Pope, Mr. Military Man
Kings and Queens
More evil that it seems
You lie, you cheat, you betray, you kill all the way
You wade through blood in your boots of steel
You hide the truth from its reveal
The world's bleeding wounds will never heal

So look in the mirror and see who you are
You made our lives an abattoir
A man-eating machine that's what you are!
