Our Cayenne S comes with Mobil 1 C40 0w40 in it, as do all new Porsches. This is a marketing relationship between the two companies. Are there other oils with the same published rating that are any better lubricants. It seems the term “synthetic” has been turned on its head over the decades, would like to use the “ best” oil available if there is such a thing. Thanks all.

Approved? Hardly.
And it is FAR more than marketing relationship.

Mobil 1 ESP X3, X4, C40 GT are all really good oils. All very similiar. Cayenne S (no offense) won't overwhelm any these.

People on Rennlist like Driven Di40 "C40 Recommended"

I use Driven DI40 in my cars.

If I was in your situation, I'd probably just run Mobil 1 C40 GT- It's a very good oil.

motul xclean gen 2 used to have P-C40 approval. could he used it still? i mean we dont know why it lost this approval, there was a lot of discussion here ... and since we say MB 229.52 is the only that matters couldnt he use it anyway? (just like we say the same thing for bimmers)

they used to replace the M 1 0-40 with motul xclean gen 2 ,but since it lost the approval...generally most of the Rennlist members when they wanted to replace a mobil OEM oil they did it with MOTUL ones..a motul represantive on their forum helped a lot with that and the fact that the "racing" reputation of motul was a marketing trick.

Why? It's not a GT car. It's pricier and doesn't meet the spec.
I misread his original post. Agree, I would just run a Porsche C40 oil.

Porsche spec's are comical though. Oils they now spec for cars (C40) before would void your warranty if used in an A40 car. Now their C40 GT oil is required for all 991 (A40) and later generation C40 GT Cars.

I am using Liquid Moly in my 2021 Cayman S. I cant find Mobil 1 at Walmart so I get this from FCP Euro. I was using Motul for the last couple of years but FCP no longer sells that. Not sure if its the best but it meets the spec.

I am running Driven Di40 https://www.fcpeuro.com/products/po...l-1-quart-driven-racing-oil-18406#description

Works in both my fun cars, recommended by multiple Porsche engine builders, positive experience on Rennlist, and good wear results at SpeedDiagnostixs on GT engines. And returnable at FCP.

It’s good but there’s no strong evidence it’s better than ESP X3/X4/C40 GT.

HTHS is higher (4.3 vs 3.8), and it starts at a higher visc than those which was important to me. Has MPAO too. Plus it's at FCP Euro, which allows me to change the oil on 2 cars for free essentially.

C40 GT is now as well, but it's $50/qt! We shall see how shear stable Drive di40 it is in the S55 and MA176 engines, although I'm on pace for 1000 miles a year on each car.

Why do you need such high HTHS?
