Hi,

I've been using a premium brand PEA with good results.

I have option to go to a brand using Polyisobutyleneamine (PIBA) DCA chemistry.

Anyone have any info or experience?

There are many xxpolyetheramine chemistry types for use as deposit control additives in fuels using diethylenetriamine and-or tetraethylenepentamine as the starting chemicals.

I haven't seen any disadvantages with PIB-type PEA DCA's.

Is PIBA 'better' than PEA?

Literature suggests this as 'much newer technology'.

Honestly though PEA product I've been using seems to work very well.

Or are they from my perspective interchangeable and performance is more dependent on product formulation?

Historically, PIBA alone was used as a fuel injector cleaner.

PEA alone was used as a high temperature combustion cleaner.

The latest chemistry of which I am aware is that PIB is reacted into a polyoxybutlylene amine as a new form of PEA which combines the performance advantages of both of the above.

As I said before there are many versions of PEA available in many molecular weights for various applications.

The typical OTC fuel injector cleaners and PEA combustion chamber cleaners, or mixes thereof, contain a series of solvents in a 2-4 cSt carrier oil.
