Premium gas and thank you

I should’ve titled the post Thank You and my new gas and oil.
I first learned of bitog from winter/winter2 in the lengthy liberty crd forums on edmunds. There from retmil46 info I had an aero turbine muffler installed. And I added intake with two cheap plumbing parts. It ran great said the mini race car builder who welded in the muffler. But it was oil discussions that winter suggested this site. What’s that then twenty years here but only registered later and sadly only donated once snd since the avatar sticky info it looks another donation is in order.

Good info out here snd great people too.

Gas and diesel its ExxonMobil or Sunoco for me... we do not have Chevron anywhere close...

Shell always gave poor performance in everything I have including OPE.
Shell gas stations were everywhere here but no longer...not sure why but they disappeared several years ago.

As far as performance (acceleration/response) goes, I can see how the higher octane may result in some difference. Personally, I have tried both Shell "93 V Power Nitro+" and "Exxon 93 Synergy Supreme +", and can't detect any discernable difference in performance whatsoever. While both higher octane products may offer superior cleaning properties, I can't justify it vs. running the regular octane and using Techron or Redline every couple of months.

Circa 1960 my brother had a gifted ‘46 Buick straight eight (first car I drove). He worked part time at a Sunoco station and said that you could rotate the dial clockwise one more time pass the 100+ indicator. Didn’t Sunoco sell their last Phila. refinery years ago. We see an occasional Sunoco station in TX and OK usually in small towns. It seems the same brand different places different quality. And I believe cujet posted about getting something other than premium in his jaguar on a fill up.

Dang how old are you? And still driving.... and worrying about stuff that doesn't matter..?

Its been a long road eh.

EDIT: Just realized op's username. Classic BITOG.
Well the state trooper who pulled me over said - eh (emphasis added for you) isn’t seventy five fast enough. That was in the 3.6 outback enjoying very high speeds on a delicious perfectly bank rising curve with a slight increasing radius. Drove both deuce and a half’s regular and automatic in the army (rvn 66-67) but not a truck driver with macv j2.

Took a 1983 gutless awd Toyota Tercel wagon stick shift from north Texas to PA to see parents then into Canada. Spent one hour racing around Toronto then went north to a little friendly small motel. Had a great pizza with clean utensils and tray and listened to two couples having a philosophy discussion. Thought I found my new home. Never happened. Believe we passed through Barrie exactly to the day one year early before the storm. Remember parked on a cliff overlooking I guess Georgian bay and to the side was a two or three story house that looked like a pgh house and in front was a town car with Arizona tags.

It takes some effort, but you can lay down some fairly short burnouts with a deuce and a half.
Always thought of buying one from the company in texas before all the rockwells were used by off roaders. Over a decade ago in OKC better half got to sit in a bobbed ? deuce and a half at a restaurant parking lot when I began talking to the owner coming out while we were going in. He provided entertainment for us pulling out onto nw expwy. I talk too much and from this thread I write too much. But I’ve met some great people and a few people who wished I was on the other side of the grass and were fighting the urge to help me get under.

Just got in from Wichita Falls in the ridgeline with fill ups of shell and Exxon. Fought crazy wind and speed going and easier trip home. Will continue buying premium shell and Exxon.

I’ve noticed no change between all grades. 87,89 and 93 QT. Top tier 87 is all I use in my Tundra.
This first post was to be a thank you and a swan song. (But I did a post for rstcso.) I used premium in her gx460 for two reasons because it was what Toyota suggested and two because of discussions with a gm employee on the hummer forums that I referenced earlier. It involved knock damage and when does the software permit timing adjustment.

Perhaps reread indylan’s post no 20 in octane effect on mpg regarding Toyota. Why don’t you start a thread so Toyota owners can chime in.

Hello jacking my own thread different then what I may have done when first posting after a few years. Fought the urge to post in motorcycles but I’ll throw in here since ausfarht bought up boxers and motorcycles was an r12 review.

Coming back stateside brother had r26 frame with engine and a lot of boxes and knobby tires. I bought a used r69 s us that was modified with a beautiful dolphin fairing with a marine clock and cigarette lighter. But more importantly a solo seat on springs and a pylon over the rear fender. On a trip to a CN race track my brother begged me to switch bikes because his r75 was killing his butt. The group parked on a hill somewhere to awaken with the scream of that Yamaha 350? at 10k plus rpm’s. Think we went to see de hammel race a twin boxer.

Edit: better half said premium which could be 91 or 93

I learned something new today about AAA's Top Tier testing. Then again, I may had known this, but had forgotten. Regardless, I think it's an important distinction.

From the AAA study:

I'm too cheap (at least mid-winter).. gas 3days ago . 2.22 for regular 87 and 3.22 for 92.
Of course being NE ohio now gas is 2.99/3.99

I feed the Cadillac DTS Northstar V8 exclusively Shell 93 and on our long road trips it turns in a solid 25 mpg.

Around town it’s more like 14-16 😂 so definitely not our daily driver but makes a great highway cruiser.

Shell 93 and only Shell 93. My car’s engine has a compression ratio of 11.5:1 and a turbo. I’ve trued Exxon premium and my car didn’t like it.

This looks to apply . Y.T. video frm T.M.O.G. " Can PREMIUM fuel REDUCE engine wear " .

Also , T.M.O.G. - " 19x Difference In Deposits " ( Engine test reults )
