Your area is likely better equipped than mine in NC. Typical snow/ice barely covers the ground most years, but back in Jan 2001 I believe it was we had an 'official' 18-20" and yeah that kinda put a halt to things for the better part of a week. Schools were closed around 2 weeks from what I recall, some businesses the better part of a week. Definitely different, but life goes on and just make the best of it and things return to 'normal' before you know it.Hate to admit this….
But even in my area where there is a decent amount of of snow removal trucks etc etc…,
We had a 1-2 inch snowstorm in January 2000 that created 800 accidents in the Hampton Roads area… Caused massive back ups and delays etc etc etc…
And we have way, way more equipment than say Atlanta Georgia or New Orleans or Montgomery Alabama.
I believe there is a good, good chance of snow and ice along the Gulf coast northeast through the Atlantic coast next week..
This pattern is similar to the one from January 2018 when winter weather hit in northern Florida into Georgia and Isle of Palm SC had 5 inches of snow there…
I find it hilarious that some tend to think weather 'should be' consistent and predictable season-season.
