I just bought 5 gallons of SAE 30 Delo API SL today for $5.36

What does 4qts SAE 30 Delo + 1 qt Syntec Blend 5-20 equal? Could this mix be used in a '01 Montero Sport 3.0 w/ 90k miles in SoTx?

Would there be a problem mixing 30 Delo with the Syntec Blend 5-20?

Would there be a problem if I used the Delo as topoff's for my '95 K1500 350 TBI that uses Maxlife Syn 5-30?

I might use it straight though for 3K mile OCI's in the K1500. For the past few years, the previous owner used 30HD Pennz in it year round with out problems.

Thanks.

Stay in the same Chevron family by mixing your Delo with Havoline or Chevron Supreme. I would give it a 3-2 mix.... right around the 12cSt@100 neighborhood.

I'd mix the 27 cents delo with 49 cents Supreme.I would give it a 2-2 mix.... right around the 38 cents neighborhood. You can save the extra 75 cent an OIC in the miles you drive before warmup.

In south Texas, no problem (as far as cold start viscosity issues). No problem as well mixing Castrol and Chevron. I mix and match all day long. NO PROBLEMS (except for that time all the additives came out of solution and the base oils fought each other and turned into tar

I say do what you feel comfortable with, I don't think you can go wrong. I'd probably mix 1quart in of whatever 5w20 you like. That 30wt is a HD oil I believe, so it is on the thick side.

I already have 3qts of Castrol Syntec Blend 5-20 on hand. That's why I proposed to use it.

I also have a good stash of rebated syn's, but did not believe those would be suitable to use in the "Delo Brew."

m2200b, where do I find .49 cent Supreme? I am not buying another case of oil again, even with MIR.

3x7, what is 12cSt@100. What property is that at 100 degrees C?

Thanks...

Vic,
I just started using RTS 5w40 on a whim. 1 gallon with half a quart M1 and 8 oz lc for the fill in our I4 Mitsubishi. In the 1300 miles since I changed the oil (two weeks ago!

)I have not noticed any change in mileage compared to the M1 0w30 I ran for the previous 8500 miles. I would run the blend you posted and not worry about it. You got some good oil cheap..again!

Oh yeah.. use this tool for your brewing calculations. VI calculator My blend came out to this.
new viscosity 14.0
viscosity at 40°C 78.5
viscosity at 100°C 14.0
viscosity index 185
Redwood viscosity at 140°F or RED1 261
Saybolt Universal viscosity 100°F or SSU 1,073
Molecular Weight 674
