Since everyone seems to be buying new rides lately, I figured what the heck, I would too. Checked out a C-class, 3 series, and walked away really impressed with the ATS. The interior was the nicest of the 3, ride was excellent, and I don't know what they did with the chassis and steering but this car drives beautifully.

Previous GM products have served me very well, and I am sure this one will too.

Traded in a 2013 GTI - it was a nice car for around the city but the highway ride was incredibly choppy, and the seats hurt my back and bottom if I was in them for longer than an hour.

You'd be surprised at the general quality of things in the VW Golf GTI, actually the interior quality is probably just as good, if not better than the Caddy in most areas.

Yep, but the caddy ATS defines the segment for ride and handling, brakes too. That includes the likes of BMW, etc.

OP- NICE CAR! I rented one for a few weeks and it sticks as one of the best smaller cars I have ever driven.

Agree, the Germans know how to do good interiors, even on the non-luxury models.

Funny thing is that I don't think I've seen any ATSes on the road. See some XTSs from time to time, but all the ATSes I see are the ones parked at the local Caddy dealer lot.

Keep us informed on what you think!

It is actually the new 2.5 N.A. 4 banger in luxury trim. I went out Saturday and hit all the dealers, and the ATS I drove at that time was a 3.6. I wasn't even going to consider a 2.5, but did research Sunday and after looking at all the power/weight ratios figured I should drive one. I don't race or drive fast (the tach on the GTI never saw 3k!) but can't stand downshifts on the freeway or gear hunting going up hills.

Initial impression of the 2.5 is great - it's smooth and quiet, sails right up hills, feels light and peppy pulling away from traffic lights, and didn't downshift going up hills on the freeway. I will need a few more clicks on the odometer to be certain about the engine, but very happy so far.

Must be nice. We just had a meeting at work yesterday about how much we are going to have to pay to keep our insurance. Thanks politicians!!!

Congrats on the new ride! Cad has really got it together in recent years and has been turning out remarkable vehicles for some time now. The styling tends toward love-or-hate, but in my case it works for me.

And I'll bet it about knocks the 'nads off the other 2.5L engine in your signature. And I say that as a Mopar guy... but I really do bet the Caddy I4 2.5 is vastly superior in almost every way to the Mitsubishi v6 2.5 of 15 years ago.

Looks very nice. Congrats. You traded a '13?! Where are all the posts telling you how to spend your money? If this were Nick, we'd be on page 5 by now....

Looks really nice! I remember you talking a bit about the GTI. Didn't seem like you were crazy about it. If I remember right, you talked a bit about how much turbo lag the 2.0T had, right?

LOL! Yeah. But seriously, that must have been a painful financial move.

Anyway, OP, congrats. ATS is a nice ride.
