You got it wrong, it is a demand, not a thank.I was commenting assuming I was helping out by responding but was thanked before I did so....it's arrogant to thank folks ahead of time for help.

You have a very good point! You got it wrong, it is a demand, not a thank.
Yes, another one! That and "reach out".....receiving an email or phone call to just "touch base" with me....
"Reach out" "Touch base" "Circle back" "Let's park that".....corporate BS jargon is always hilarious to me. Nobody talks this way in normal/real life with their friends.for a brief period in my life i had a corporate business client and the one thing that made me see red and think about strangling the pencil neck geeks was receiving an email or phone call to just "touch base" with me.
I got rid of them after about six months cause the money i made wasnt worth the aggravation of having to listen to them LOL
Ah ok, got it and yes....it does.Going forward reminds me of "low hanging fruit". It sounds like corporate speak.
Scott
Precisely why it bugs me.You got it wrong, it is a demand, not a thank.
This reminds me:"Reach out" "Touch base" "Circle back" "Let's park that".....corporate BS jargon is always hilarious to me. Nobody talks this way in normal/real life with their friends.
How would you like to demand something from others then?Precisely why it bugs me.
I do."Reach out" "Touch base" "Circle back" "Let's park that".....corporate BS jargon is always hilarious to me. Nobody talks this way in normal/real life with their friends.
Reminds me of the emails we get at work sometimes, where everything is a "metric" or a "delta" or they're always discussing whose court the ball is in at this point in time. Are we a business or a sports team?"Reach out" "Touch base" "Circle back" "Let's park that".....corporate BS jargon is always hilarious to me. Nobody talks this way in normal/real life with their friends.
You would be in BIG TROUBLE if you treat your coworkers or boss as your "friends".... sooner or later you would regret it."Reach out" "Touch base" "Circle back" "Let's park that".....corporate BS jargon is always hilarious to me. Nobody talks this way in normal/real life with their friends.
I had a lady that used to say "Sounds like we just need to focus on sharpening the pencil." WTH does that even mean?
Another one I used to hear from a client "Can you tell me the cadence of your visit today?" WTH does that even mean?
Well, you just have to be careful about how you do it.You would be in BIG TROUBLE if you treat your coworkers or boss as your "friends".... sooner or later you would regret it.
I don't demand things, I ask. If I'm asking for help in an online environment I typically say something like "I appreciate any help folks are willing to give" or the like. "Willing" is the key here. Thanking folks ahead of time is a strange way of doing the same thing I suppose. How would you like to demand something from others then?
It shouldn't change the way you talk/words you use at work with co-workers/managers. Somehow not sounding like this/using these words has worked well for me in my 24 year career so far!You would be in BIG TROUBLE if you treat your coworkers or boss as your "friends".... sooner or later you would regret it.
This reminds me:
I hate it when I find myself slipping into saying that…"....that'd be great."
Work environment =/= hangin' out with one's buds."Reach out" "Touch base" "Circle back" "Let's park that".....corporate BS jargon is always hilarious to me. Nobody talks this way in normal/real life with their friends.
