Yes, but it still sounds like a vacuum cleaner

Are you kidding?

Ok, those don't sound half bad in the video.

I have a supercharged 3800, the blower helps but the sound of the uneven exhaust routing is less than ideal. Although with 240HP/280 LB/FT in stock configuration and can pull 30 mpg HWY you can't have everything.

NO V-6 anywhere sounds very good.

You need a V-8!

No V8 needed.

I don't know man, I've heard GN's that sound down right wicked. Usually those have quiet exhausts and really loud turbos though. They still sound sinister...

I'll admit I'm not a big fan of most V6s. I'm not a fan of most import V6s, I like the growl of the American stuff much more. Even in that category there are only a couple I like.

The GN does not sound good uncapped. It sounds kind of like an old tractor. The right exhaust with a K&N letting the whistle out does wonders though.

As for V8s, I have to say Ford puts out the best sounding V8s. All the way back from my day when the 5.0 and 1 chamber Flowmasters were everywhere to the new modular engines today. My friend had a Pantera with the stock 351C and some expensive headers and it's definately in the top one or two best sounding cars I've ever heard.

A V6 generally sounds hoarse and unsatisfying to me. Nissan's latest efforts get the best marks. I6's sound tractor-y. But a flat 6, now there's some interesting noise! Angry, ANGRY, uncouth snarling!

Looks like it's pretty fast. Sounds pretty good, I don't know if I would say it's the best sounding.

You can always get a cam for the Vulcan...

Not saying slow, we're talking NOISE here.

X2 on the Pantera. I had one in 1975 with a full tilt 351 and it made some sweet music. Treacherous car though in the twisties.

My 87 Buick GN sounds nice as does my 08 CTS with the DI3.6. The Buick rumbles almost like a V8, the Cadillac sounds like a typical DOHC at high RPM's not bad, just different. But, the old Corvette sounds best to me as any V8 does.

Hey, being one of the world's biggest Volkswagen junkies, I'd obviously rank the VR6 as one of the sweetest sounding engines out there.

But, without a doubt, the Alfa Romeo V6 wins the title in this category...

In an Alfa 75: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P9sj1Rg2u0A

In a Hawk HF replica of the Lancia Stratos rally car: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-BLBwGNipWU

And finally a couple of it in an Alfa 156 wagon, no less: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Wey52nB5res&feature=related

YEOWZA!!!

And yes, as a matter of fact, I am drooling over the prospect of finally seeing Alfas once again rolling down American roads!

One of my other favorites (not sure why)

is the DOHC V6 in the Taurus. Sounds great in the new Fusion and not too shabby in the Taurus.

I agree that the Duratec 3.0 has a nice sound at WOT, at least inside the car.

The Duratec 3.5 sounds a little manlier though
