..Perhaps the best sounding stock V6?

As soon as I saw this thread I was going to pipe up and say Hyundai/Kia's V6. It just sounds shockingly good, even the smaller 2.7 will raise the hair on the back of your neck as far as sounds go. This engine makes the otherwise cool Nissan VQ sound like a Barbie car.

3.0 Mitsu is good, VR6s sound good but more unrefined the larger they get as in the 3.6s in the B6 Passat...just sounds trashy.

90 degree V6s have never sounded good to me in most cases, but whatever.

All these engines sound limp compared to a small Ford V8 with high compression, a big cam, and open exhaust....

My 3.3 Sonata sounds the same. Of course, after all, it IS the little brother of the 3.8!

Edit: Youtube link deleted. Sorry GN, the Youtube video had loud and clear profanity, which was a shame. It was a nice looking and sounding car.

Sorry, I didn't watch it to the end. Once the guy started making lame comments I shut it off. I guess there's no way to edit where I could repost, is there?

The Nissan engines have a distinctive exhaust note but from the inside they sound terrible to me. Same goes for most of the American V6 engines...

The inline 6 (as in the N54 BMW offering) has a much nicer sound, inside and out, in my opinion.

Yes, but it still sounds like a vacuum cleaner

I loved the first-generation Chrysler 3.5 sound, well for a v6 anyway. But as usual all the car rags said that it was too loud, and so they made it sound like a generic Toyota for the 2nd generation (aluminum block) version.

Much of the cool sound of the first gen came from the induction setup, which looked like a 6-cylinder version of the old 413 cross-ram. Dual throttle bodies in place of dual quads :-) The 2nd gen had 35 more horsepower, granted, but the single throttle body on an injection molded composite intake manifold ruined any chance of a similar throaty induction sound.

But I gotta agree, the very best v6 sound EVER is a forced-induction Buick 3.8 (either turbo or supercharged, doesn't matter much which).

I have to say the best sounding 6 cylinder enginesare as follows- The legendary RB26dett from a Nissan Skyline R34 GT-R. The other would be the 3.6 from the Porsche 911 GT3 and GT3 RS. The new 3.8 sounds awesome, especially with free flow exhaust.

This one sounds nowhere near as well as the one that got taken down... This is my buddies GN. Stock engine with some bolt-ons, 22psi boost, and 11.60s back then in the video vs my '06 TL.

It's now gone 11.10 at 28psi and as luck would have it we got to take down a GT-R Skyline on that tune. But most importantly, stock engine, aftermarket exhaust.

It was pretty close as you can see lol. The guys over at acurazine were accusing me of not flooring the TL.

I always loved the sound of my SHO's when the secondaries opened up - but the best V6 I probably heard personally was my friend T-bird SC with Borla exaust.

I just had the SE Sport, and I forgot how cool it sounded... When the secondaries actually decided to open up anyway... Good power and sound from a 2.5L engine.
